Many visitors leave with their own theory but all are amazed. The short walk through the glen to ancient Roslin Castle is also fascinating.
- Melrose Abbey - Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Melrose. The stunning ruined Abbey is the final resting place of King Robert the Bruce’s heart.
- Carter Bar - Cross the ancient Scotland/England border at Carter Bar, a wonderful viewpoint in the Cheviot Hills.
- Housesteads Roman Fort - Hadrian’s Wall - Hadrian’s Wall is the best-known frontier of the Roman Empire and a magnificent reminder of one of the world’s greatest civilisations. Built almost 2000 years ago to contain the fierce Picts in Caledonia it stretches for 73 miles and was designated a World Heritage Site in 1987. You stop at Housesteads Fort in Northumberland National Park, the best preserved Roman fort along Hadrian’s Wall. Here you’ll enjoy a nature walk along one of the most dramatic and photographed stretches of the wall.
- Jedburgh Abbey - On route back to Edinburgh, you will stop in the Border market town of Jedburgh to stretch your legs and for photos of the famous Abbey.

Loved this tour! - This tour was outstanding. Our guide/driver Roddy was so wonderful and kind. He made our trip much better than expected and his knowledge of the places we saw added to the entire experience. Definitely recommend and would love to travel with this tour company again.

Excursion with Roddy - This was a beautiful excursion! At Rosslyn’s Chapel. I would recommend leaving yourself enough time to walk down to the old castle ruins and forest trails. It’s a steep walk but worth it! The bathroom lines took a while there also.
Melrose Abbey is under construction but walking around it was still a great experience. Hadrian’s walk is a feat and amazing to think about the work that went into it.
Roddy was our guide and he was fun with a vast amount of knowledge which is great combination! He made our excursion very memorable and personal!

Great trip to Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian’s Wall - Enjoyed a great trip with Angela to the Chapel where we sat in on a tour which was both informative and entertaining. Then headed to Hadrian’s Wall and a walk around the old fort. Highly recommend the tour.

The beautiful Borderlands! - We had an amazing day!! We could not have had a better host than Roddy, a true Scot completely in love with his country.
In addition to the beautiful scenery, Roddy complemented the whole journey with very interesting data on Scottish history and customs. One hundred percent recommended!

You Will Not Find A Better Tour - Heart of Scotland Tours - I cannot say enough about how wonderful our day trip with Heart of Scotland Tours was. We booked a private tour - Hadrian's Wall, Scotland / England border viewpoint, Rosslyn Chapel and Melrose Abbey. We had the most amazing guide - Calalis. He was not only knowledgeable about all of the places we went to but was a pleasure to be around. It is so evident that he loves his job and what he does. Due to our tour being on a Sunday (I booked that day of the week) Rosslyn Chapel was closed but that meant we got more time at Housesteads Roman Fort and Hadrian's Wall. With Calalis' suggestion, we walked along the wall towards Sycamore Gap. I have never seen a more beautiful view in my life. If Calais hadn't suggested the "hike" (it was just natural stairs) along the wall then we would have missed out. A shout out to Nick as well who was very patient with us during the booking process! Thank you Calais and Heart of Scotland Tours, you will always have a special place in OUR hearts.

Fantastic tour with a wonderful guide! - What a fantastic tour! Our guide Keith was wonderful and knowledgeable…hopefully he’ll sing “Loch Lomond” for you! Seeing Homesteads and Hadrian’s Wall was something from my bucket list, and it did not disappoint. Rosslyn was gorgeous, as were Melrose & Jedburgh, and love all the information about each of the little towns we stopped in. Highly recommend this tour!

A full day of history - Fabulous trip with Calam as our guide and Ian as our driver. The day was very full of history with lots of stories and history of chapels and ruins. Hadrian wall is a must. Thank you for the educational day

Relaxing journey with wonderful Scottish story telling - An absolutely perfect day! A nice mix of sitting back and relaxing in the bus listening to Callum’s storytelling of Scottish History and having plenty of time at each spot we visited. I fell in love with the village of Melrose and will be back there again some day to take in their Roman history museum.
