Temple of Philae - Begin with a pickup from your Cairo/Giza hotel, then head to Cairo airport for a flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, our tour guide will greet you with a sign bearing your name. You’ll then travel by private vehicle to explore Aswan’s highlights, starting with the stunning Philae Temple. This temple was meticulously relocated to its current site (about 500 meters from its original location) due to the rising Nile waters caused by the construction of the High Dam. Philae Temple was built in honor of the goddess Isis, the island’s chief deity.
Aswan High Dam - Next, visit the Aswan High Dam, completed in 1964. This engineering marvel, built in the 1960s, contains more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops. The dam is 11,811 feet long, 3,215 feet thick at the base, and 364 feet tall, carved from existing granite. It provides irrigation and electricity for all of Egypt.
Unfinished Obelisk - Then, head to the granite quarries of Aswan to see the Unfinished Obelisk. Much of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi came from here. The Unfinished Obelisk remains where it was being carved when a crack was discovered. After your tour, you’ll be escorted back to your hotel.
Lake Nasser - Visit Lake Nasser.
Aswan to Luxor by vehicle
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Travel for about three and a half hours, starting at 6 am. Transfer by private vehicle to Luxor and begin your visit on the west bank with the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most impressive monuments. Hatshepsut was a famous female ruler who reigned for 20 years, posing as a male to secure the throne.
Valley of the Kings - After returning to your hotel to change, visit the necropolis of ancient Thebes. At the Valley of the Kings, you’ll find the burial sites of Thebes’ kings (ancient Luxor). Notable tombs include those of King Tutmosis I, Tutmosis III, Tutankhamun, King Ramesses VI, King Merenptah, and Amenhotep II. You’ll also see the Colossi of Memnon. Later, transfer to a Nile Cruise for dinner and a tanoura show with a belly dancer. The cruise sails for two hours, offering a nighttime view of Cairo, before safely returning you to your hotel.
Temple of Karnak - Next, visit Karnak Temple, the greatest example of worship in history, dedicated to the God Amon, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu. It was built from the beginning of the Middle Kingdom to the Graeco-Roman Kingdom. After your tour, you’ll be escorted back to Luxor airport for a flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, your Cairo driver will transfer you back to your hotel, marking the end of the tour.
