- Fossen Bratte - Also known as Brudesløret, Eikedalsfoss, or Brattefossen, Fossen Bratte is a magnificent waterfall located near Bergen, on the route between Bergen and Norheimsund in the Hordaland region. While Steinsdalsfossen is the primary attraction in the Bergen area, drawing many visitors, some find Fossen Bratte even more awe-inspiring. The name Fossen Bratte translates to “steep waterfall,” which is fitting as the Eikedalselva River cascades down a single drop of 79 meters.
- Steinsdalsfossen - Situated in the municipality of Kvam in Vestland county, Steinsdalsfossen is one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations. Visitors can follow a path from the parking area along the waterfall, ascending a hill and walking behind the waterfall without getting wet. Steinsdalsfossen stands 46 meters (151 ft) tall, with a main drop of 20 meters (66 ft), and is most voluminous when the snow melts in May and June. It is part of the Fosselva River, which originates from Lake Myklavatnet, located 814 meters (2,671 ft) above sea level in the mountains above the waterfall. Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany visited Steinsdalsfossen almost every summer from 1889 until World War I began in 1914. The waterfall was formed in 1699 when the river carved a new path.
- Hardangerfjord - The Hardangerfjord is the fourth longest fjord globally and the second longest in Norway, located in Vestland county in the Hardanger region. It extends 179 kilometers (111 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean into Norway’s mountainous interior along the Hardangervidda plateau. Around 8,000 BC, the Scandinavian landmass began to rise as massive glacial ice melted, flooding the lower valleys and creating what is now known as the Hardangerfjord. The valley was shaped not only by glacial erosion but also by high-pressure melting water that forced its way beneath the ice.
- Hardanger Bridge - The Hardanger Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Eidfjorden branch of Hardangerfjorden in Hordaland county. It connects the municipalities of Ullensvang and Ulvik, replacing a ferry service between Bruravik and Brimnes, thus reducing travel time between Oslo and Bergen. It is Norway’s longest suspension bridge, measuring 1,380 meters (4,530 ft) in length, with a main span of 1,310 meters (4,300 ft).
- Vøringsfossen - Vøringsfossen is Norway’s 83rd highest waterfall by total fall, located at the top of the Måbødalen valley in the municipality of Eidfjord. It has a total drop of 182 meters (597 ft), with a major drop of 163 meters (534 ft). It is perhaps Norway’s most renowned waterfall and a significant tourist attraction on the route from Hardangervidda to Hardangerfjord.
- Skjervsfossen Waterfall - Located on the road between Granvin and Voss, Skjervsfossen features twin falls plunging from a height of 150 meters. It offers a well-organized network of paths, stairs, viewpoints, rest areas, picnic spots, and parking facilities. The waterfall experience varies depending on your location, weather, seasons, and water flow. At the waterfall’s base, you can experience “The Shower,” a stunning scenic area where you feel the waterfall’s immense power. As the name suggests, you might get soaked if there’s been heavy rain.
- Voss Municipality - Voss is a municipality and traditional district in Vestland county, Norway, with its administrative center in the village of Vossevangen. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes, and fast-flowing rivers, Voss has become a hub for skiing, water sports, skydiving, paragliding, and other adventure activities. Every year, during the last week of June, the area hosts the Extreme Sports Week, considered the world’s premier extreme sports festival. Bømoen, the local airstrip, is home to Skydive Voss, one of Norway’s largest drop zones, and a gliding club. The rivers offer various levels of white water, attracting kayaking, rafting, and river boarding enthusiasts. Kite surfing and para-bungee can be seen on Lake Vangsvatnet. The ski area north of the town is accessible via the Hangursbanen cable car.
- Panorama Views from Mount Hanguren - The gondola transports visitors from the Voss train station to Mount Hanguren (820 masl) in under nine minutes. At the top station, enjoy panoramic views of the mountains surrounding Voss. In summer, engage in activities like hiking, biking, paragliding, or visit the restaurant and café to savor the view. During winter, the gondola takes you to Voss Resort, where you can enjoy a day of snow-filled fun.
