Embrace the Glacier’s Majesty
As the sun rises over El Calafate, the anticipation of a warm weekend filled with adventure and awe begins. The Perito Moreno Glacier, a marvel of nature, beckons with its towering ice formations and the promise of unforgettable experiences. On May 3rd, the day starts with a gentle breeze and partly cloudy skies, perfect for embarking on the Kayak Adventure along the glacier’s edge. This unique opportunity to kayak in the protected waters of Los Glaciares National Park is a privilege granted to only a few, and it offers a perspective of the glacier that is both intimate and grand.
Imagine paddling through the serene waters, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the distant rumble of ice calving from the glacier. The experience is both humbling and exhilarating, as you witness the glacier’s immense size and the intricate patterns of its icy facade. The tour includes a delicious picnic lunch, allowing you to savor the moment and the breathtaking views. As one reviewer noted on November 3, 2022:
Easy kayak trip with the best views! - We loved our kayaking day! Martin picked us up at our hotel and was an excellent (English speaking) guide - he had lots of information to share on the drive. Kayaking was safe, easy (being a lake there’s no current or large waves to deal with, just wind), and so enjoyable. The dry suits kept us warm. We had plenty of time to paddle around and just watch / listen. Couldn’t get as close as we’d hoped to the glacier, but we’re able to paddle around some smaller icebergs. The picnic lunch was tasty and plentiful. The trails around the park are in excellent condition and provide many good vantage points.
A Day of Exploration and Wonder
On May 4th, the weather continues to favor exploration with warm temperatures and partly cloudy skies. This is the perfect day to embark on the Perito Moreno Glacier Tour, a journey that promises spectacular views and a deeper understanding of this natural wonder. The tour begins at 9:00 AM, allowing you to spend the day immersed in the beauty of the glacier.
As you walk along the network of walkways, each turn reveals a new perspective of the glacier’s grandeur. The sound of ice cracking and the sight of massive icebergs floating in the lake create a sensory experience that is both thrilling and serene. The tour also includes a one-hour boat ride, bringing you within 150 meters of the glacier’s south face, where you can witness the awe-inspiring phenomenon of ice calving.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is not just a sight to behold; it’s a testament to the power and beauty of nature. As one recent visitor shared on April 27, 2025:
Amazing views and knowledgeable guide - The glacier is amazing and our tour guide knew her information and provided visual hand outs when describing flora and landscape. The boat was amazing and the crew young and friendly. There is only one restaurant where the glacier walks and a little expensive so recommend that you take advantage of the bakeries wherever you are saying and take a roll / food with you.
Evening Strolls and Cultural Delights

The town, known for its charming streets and vibrant culture, invites you to explore its local shops and cafes.
