Marrakech - El Jadida - Oualidia. 210 km, 3 hours + 80 km, 1.5 hours on the road
El Jadida - Departing from Marrakech early in the morning ensures not a moment of this beautiful day is missed as we head towards the ocean. Explore the 16th-century Portuguese fortress, wander through the narrow alleyways of the old city, descend into the underground cisterns, visit the Jewish district, and stroll around Morocco’s most picturesque port.
Oualidia - Oualidia offers a serene setting with its tranquil lagoons, islands, stunning salt marshes and dunes, abundant migratory birds, beautiful beaches, and oyster farms. The oysters here are large and flavorful, a unique characteristic for Atlantic oysters, while the Japanese variety is tender and delicate. Enjoy swimming, a boat trip around the lagoon, and, in season, spotting pink flamingos. Interested in surfing lessons, fishing, clam harvesting, or birdwatching? It’s all available! Just let us know in advance.
Oualidia - Safi - Essaouira. 60 km, 1 hour + 140 km, 2.5 hours on the road
Oualidia - We’ll remain in Oualidia until lunch to explore the surroundings, fulfill our plans, and enjoy a break by the ocean.
Safi - After lunch at a favorite fish restaurant, we’ll proceed to Safi, a coastal city with a charming authentic medina, a historic fortress, and exceptional potters. Interested in crafting your own vase or tagine? Let’s give it a try!
Essaouira - Following a tour of Safi, we’ll head to Essaouira to watch the sunset in this snow-white city, a beloved spot for artists and musicians.
Essaouira - Marrakech. 190 km, 2.5 hours on the road
Essaouira - After visiting impressive yet tranquil, non-touristy places, Essaouira captivates with its vibrant energy, music, and the vivid colors of art galleries and souvenir shops. This city has been cherished by travelers, pirates, explorers, musicians, and artists for centuries. It’s lively and entertaining yet cozy. Together, we’ll climb the fortress walls and explore the royal, Jewish, and residential districts of the old town and the harbor. We’ll meet the Gnawa musicians and ‘sorcerers’ and learn about crafting.
Marrakech - After enjoying lunch on a terrace with a stunning view, we’ll return to Marrakech. If you wish to stay in Essaouira for a few days to go horseback riding along the ocean, sample all the “grey” wines at the local winery, or visit a cheese factory or a giant nomadic market, it’s all possible! We’ll adjust your Marrakech transfer to any day that suits you.
