Great place to visit! - Absolutely amazing place we loved it! So interesting to see and hear about the history of the prison and be able to explore at our own pace lots of really good exhibits and information boards around the prison and very knowledgeable staff We also did the cell escape room and although we did not manage to escape it was a good experience and the staff will offer clues/guidance if you really need it All in all a great day out and will be returning for either the ghost tour or the overnight stay!

An unusual but enjoyable anniversary trip out! - Really enjoyed our first experience at an escape room, even though we were foiled by one of the puzzles and couldn’t escape! Having a self guided tour included in the price of the escape room was great as it was really interesting to look around the prison afterwards at our leisure.

Great escape room experience. - This was our first ever escape room and it did not disappoint. A great introduction and lots of things to solve. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We went with family who have done lots of escape rooms and they thought it was one of the better ones they had done too. Do a definite thumbs up all round.

Escape room visit - Great fun. 24yr old daughter and I went. We had brilliant time and even escaped! Both of us enjoyed it, and good experience for first escape room. Lovely to be able to walk around the prison after too! Hadn’t realised a few things about the prison so lots of knowledge learnt too. Would recommend for all ages. Only thing to be mindful of is escape rooms are on 2nd floor so would be an issue for someone with mobility issues otherwise don’t hesitate to book.. Young gentleman running the visit was great too!

Fantastic value for money and dog friendly too! - Brilliant day out for us all whilst vsiting the area. Myself, my partner and teen daughter all had a fantastic day, were even allowed to bring the dog to the escape room! The staff stayed in character which really made you feel like an inmate. Embarrassingly our dog had a wee in the prison while we were walking around after, the staff were totally fine about it and gave us some antibacterial and blue rolls and said im the first to tell them, they understand these things happen, clean up after your dogs! The parking was shocking so make sure you leave with plenty of time to spare to find a spot and would have liked a bit longer to look around, after the escape room we had about an hour before closing but that was our own fault for not booking earlier. We would recommend this to anyone and if we are in the area again would definitely do another escape room here!

Very cold - Escape room itself was good, it was hard and we didn't get out but it was a good experience. However, it was absolutely freezing :( We did wrap up warm as suggested but it was bitterly cold and it did spoil the experience. It was colder inside the buildings than it was outside. No enough staff on in the canteen, we waited nearly 20 minutes for a hot drink and then ended up late for our escape room, made worse by poor signage. If you're going I would recommend going in warmer months. Also parking is difficult and expensive

It was ok - We enjoyed the puzzles in the cell escape game but found that the getting a hint aspect of the game was tricky. We waited for 10 minutes to get an answer from the guard, in the end we pushed the emergency release and went out to find her. This was through no fault of her own but having one person running 5 escape games feels like an almighty task and it would be sensible to maybe have a few people available to help with hints and questions like other escape rooms we have visited.

Really disappointing - Compared to many other escape room experiences this was very boring, sorry but there are much better alternatives. Plus the cells are poorly maintained and dirty leaving you not really wanting to handle the clues.
