Amazing - Visiting as part of a college trip and it was an amazing experience. Our tour guide Nick was amazing, and even though ive been twice before, I still learnt something new!
The students loved it, if you’re thinking of taking students as part of school trip, I would highly recommend. We also did the escape room which were also really good!

Family Tour - Visit with family, what an experience. We did the guided tour with Graham. His knowledge not only of this prison but the prison service in general was incredible. He delivered knowledge clearly and precisely with amazing facts along the way. The government should listen to what he has to say!
Full marks Graham and many thanks.

Captivating - We had a guided tour by a chap whose name escapes me (has white hair). The information he gave was immense and captivating and allowed us the compare a victorian prison with the modern day version. It was extremely informative and the tour time evaporated. Remarkable visit and well worth the entry price. Cannot reccomend enough

Fabulous guided tour of the prison - We had a fantastic time on the guided tour which we would highly recommend. Without the knowledge of Graham it would have been a very different experience, he’s full of knowledge and stories that you don’t want to miss out on
Thank you for a great tour!

Prison experience - Great eye opening experience with Graham one of the resident prison officers his experience and knowledge was amazing and when seeing the prison just left as it closed in 2003 was as if everyone just got up and left and yes I would not want to be in there as a resident, Great day out.

Tour of Shrewsbury Prison by ex- officer - The tour of the prison was fascinating and made more so by the extremely knowledgeable guide who brought the past to life and informed us of the current challenges in the prison system.

Great experience - Guided Tour of the Prison with Malcolm .Great few hours spent being taken around various places such as A wing, reception and the hanging room. Malcolm was an expert in all departments combined with his great knowledge of prison life being a ex prison officer. It was a great sense of humour injected in to the Tour as well .Highly recommended To all

Dire customer service - On Saturday May 17th we had tickets for the guided tour at 14:30. The day before I decided to buy a prepaid parking space in the prison grounds.
On arrival there were no parking spaces and we ended up on the nearby railway car park. When we checked in for our tour I requested a refund of my £5 parking. Unfortunately I was dealing with Jade who proved to be both uninformed and obstructive.
She told me we couldn’t have a refund and kept stating that no refunds were issued and saying it says so in the terms and conditions on the website. I pointed out that as we paid for a service that then was not provided, to fail to issue a refund was breaking the law (supported by a review of the Consumers Act 2015 section 49 and section 54). She then told me again no refund would be issued as it wasn’t their fault people abused the system by parking in the car park when they hadn’t reserved a spot. I pointed out that was hardly my fault either and I wanted the refund I was entitled to under the law.
She then proceeded to tell me she wasn’t authorised to issue a refund so I asked if she could get someone who could, the reply was there was no manager on duty, I asked for the manager’s email address and was told I couldn’t have it as it contained the manager’s name so would be breaching data protection to provide it. I asked for the customer services address so I could file a complaint, I had a paper complaint form thrown at me and a pot of pens thrust in my face with the comment. “Pick which pen you want”.
At this point I became very upset and was in tears.
A different employee became involved and dealt with my Husband. she agreed to issue a refund for the parking and unredeem the Virgin voucher we used to book the tour (as I was clearly too distraught to go on the tour).
The next day I sent an email complaint to Cove Attractions outlining what had happened. Several days later I received a reply from the Manager at Shrewsbury Prison. He confirmed a refund for the parking charges had been made and offered “As a gesture of goodwilI” an experience of my choice—perhaps a ghost tour or a guided tour—along with complimentary refreshments at our restaurant.
I replied that I’d prefer to just have my Virgin voucher unredeemed as I was promised. That was over a week ago and I’ve heard nothing further. With all that in mind I felt a one star review was justified for the dire customer service offered by more than one individual at the establishment.
