Great guided tour - Went on a guided tour today with Dan as our tour guide. Very interesting, informative tour, Dan was very good. Lasted 1 hour 40 minutes and I’m glad we did the guided tour rather than the self tour as you get so much more information than you would get from reading info boards. We were able to look around ourselves afterwards also and I’m glad we did as there was more to see and read. Quite expensive really at £25 each but I enjoyed it and am glad we did it. I thought a £5 charge to park on the prison grounds was quite frankly a rip off when you’ve already paid £50 entry fee and the car park is barely fit for purpose you have to dodge the potholes. It is good to see that something has been made out of the building rather than it just sitting there empty, a good attraction if you like true crime

A fun and interesting afternoon. - We took a guided tour of the prison to fill a rainy Saturday afternoon and we were not disappointed. Malcolm was our tour guide, he had an extensive knowledge of the prison history and facts. An injection of humour was also very welcomed, we were entertained and educated at the same time. Excellent experience and thouroughly enjoyable.

Great trip - We attended the guided tour of the prison today. Malcolm was a wonderful guide, very informative, knowledgeable and injected humour throughout. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with him. Since leaving we have all reflected upon the various facts he mentioned and have had great fun in sharing these with our family and friends. Thankyou Malcolm. :)

Great tour - A great tour led by Alex, who was very knowledgeable and funny. When a group of children were running & screaming, they unintentionally disturbed the tour, but Alex managed the situation with good humour. Great day out if you love history and certainly makes you think! Shrewsbury is beautiful too, great food and drink establishments.

Well worth a visit - Excellent and much recommended The prison has a feeling that the inmates have just gone out for a couple of hours and left you to wander, as you can see every part of the prison and how it was when it was last used in 2013. Also takes you back in time to when it opened in 1793 and see the original parts of the prison and see what life was like Booked the 2:30 …Tour with Malcolm which lasted 1 h 30 m and was excellent, could have listened to his stories all afternoon, as was as ex-guard his insites and tales were fascinating well worth a few hours to wander the eerie parts of the prison and see the location of many TV shows an movies ! HIGHLY recommended all in all good value and a great visit ! ( car parking on site £5 and cheaper than the public car park opposite / coffee shop and cafe on site … good coffee cakes and decent menu)

Interesting and informative - I have today been on a guided tour of Shrewsbury Jail. Our Tour Guide was Malcolm and I must say how informative, knowledgeable and also likeable he was. Having worked there for many years as a Prison Officer he certainly had a few tales to tell and tell them he did, lots of information about all aspects of prison life and of course death in prison. Five stars Malcolm for an entertaining and harrowing tour ! Thank you
