Pick up and Transfer to Murchison Falls NP with Detour for Rhino Tracking at Zziwa

Rhino Fund Uganda - Ideally, your flight will arrive early in Entebbe. Your guide/driver will meet you at Entebbe Airport and proceed to Murchison Falls. Highlights of this park include the roaring rapids of the Murchison, the expansive plains of Uganda’s largest National Park, where you can spot lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. You’ll also be captivated by the abundance of hippos and Nile crocodiles. For bird enthusiasts, Murchison Falls is home to 450 bird species, including the elusive shoebill stork, dwarf kingfisher, white-thigh hornbill, and Goliath heron, among others.

On the way, stop at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for your first Big 5 experience, where you’ll enjoy an hour of rhino tracking. Another stop will be in Masindi for lunch. Continue to the park and check into your accommodation to relax for the evening.

Murchison Game Drive and Boat Trip to the Base of the Mighty Falls

Murchison Falls National Park - After an early breakfast, explore the Northern section of Murchison, which has a high concentration of savannah wildlife. Enjoy game viewing and photography of elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, giraffes, Uganda kobs, lions, and possibly leopards, along with a variety of bird species.

Return to your accommodation for lunch, then embark on a boat trip to the base of the falls. This trip is considered the highlight of the safari in Murchison Falls, as it allows you to get close to the wildlife in the water. Cruise past large hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo, and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfalls. You’ll have the chance to take countless photos, so bring your camera if you wish.

Hiking to the Top of the Falls and Later Transfer Back to Kampala

Murchison Falls National Park - Murchison Falls along the Nile River is a true masterpiece of nature! In a small space, a million cubic meters of water from the Nile squeeze through the Albertine Gorge as they journey 6,853 km (4,258 miles) towards Egypt. Many wonder about the scenic beauty of the falls, but once you reach the top and see the entire Nile passing through a narrow gap, it becomes clear why so many visitors make the trip. The Nile River is about 50 meters wide at the top just before the falls, dropping 43 meters through a 7-meter-wide gorge.
The journey to the top is lengthy, but once you arrive, it is well worth it. The thunderous spectacle and sound of the water passing through the narrow opening is magnificent – an experience not to be missed by anyone who can make the trip, as no words can truly capture the display, but seeing it in person does.
