• Archaeological Park of Herculaneum - Like Pompeii, Herculaneum was a town engulfed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, offering a detailed and vibrant glimpse into Roman society and daily life. While Herculaneum was submerged under a pyroclastic flow of volcanic mud, Pompeii was covered by a thick layer of volcanic ash and stone. Visitors can explore spacious houses, shrines, and baths, as well as the surrounding areas that feature many exquisite villas, including the remarkable Villa of the Papyri. Herculaneum served as a holiday retreat for affluent Romans from the region, boasting stunning sea views and convenient access to the coast. Please note that the Pompeii ticket is not included and costs an additional €16 per person. Admission is free for those under 18. A guide in Herculaneum is highly recommended.

Herculaneum, known globally for its significance, is situated 150 miles to the south of Rome, near Naples. It makes for a lengthy day trip from Rome or a convenient short trip from Naples or the much-visited vacation region around Sorrento.
