Kochi Airport to Munnar

Day 2: Munnar Sightseeing

Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park - Eravikulam National Park spans 97 km² along the Western Ghats in Kerala’s Idukki district, India. Positioned between 10º05’N and 10º20’ north, and 77º0’ and 77º10’ east, it holds the distinction of being Kerala’s first national park.

Mattupetty Dam - Located near Munnar in Idukki District, Mattupetty Dam is a concrete gravity dam constructed in the Kerala mountains to conserve water for hydroelectric power. It significantly contributes to the state’s revenue alongside other dams.

Echo Point - Munnar, with its lush green hills, low-lying clouds, scenic national park, and endless misty tea estates, captivates all visitors. Echo Point, situated about 15 km from Munnar, is a popular attraction drawing large crowds.

Munnar to Thekkady

Periyar Tiger Reserve - After breakfast, check out from the Munnar resort and drive to Thekkady. Upon arrival, check into the resort. Thekkady is renowned for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the world’s most captivating wildlife reserves. Opt for a cruise on Lake Periyar to spot wildlife such as elephants, Indian Gaur, monkeys, spotted deer, and a variety of birds.

Thekkady (Periyar) Activities

Thekkady - Encompassing 777 sq km, the sanctuary features a stunning artificial lake created by the Mullaperiyar dam across the Periyar River, enhancing the park’s allure. It is the only sanctuary in India offering the unique experience of viewing wildlife up close from a boat on the lake. Upon arrival, check into the hotel for the night, leaving the afternoon free for optional activities like a spice plantation visit, Kathakali, and Kalari Payattu show.

Kovalam / Trivandrum Tour

Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) - Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to explore the Padmanabhaswami Temple area and tour Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala’s capital city, which retains the ancient roots of Kerala life. Discover relics of ancient architecture in many buildings. Visit the Horse Palace, Napier Museum, Zoo, and Poovar backwaters for boating (extra chargeable), then return to the hotel.
