The site is renowned for its stunning and magnificent architecture, constructed from red sandstone on the Nile’s west bank. Originally dating back to the reign of Thutmose II (1493 to 1479 BC), the remains of Latopolis are from the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
- Tombs of El Kab - Continue south for about 30km to El Kab, where you will find rock-cut tombs from the early 18th Dynasty (1550–1295 BC) on the east bank of the Nile at the mouth of Wadi Hillal. Visit the tomb of Ahmose, son of Ibana, which contains significant biographical accounts of the Hyksos expulsion from Egypt by the early 18th Dynasty kings. Noteworthy tombs include those of Pahery and Renni, dating to the reign of Thutmose III, with some of the site’s most beautiful decorations. Explore the ruins and mud-brick outer wall of ancient Nekhen, the religious and political capital of Upper Egypt at the end of the Predynastic period (c. 3200 – 3100 BC). After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Luxor.

Top tier experience from Dr Azab and Salah! - We booked the day trip to Esna and El Kab and were picked up from luxor airport and treated us to a tasty Egyptian falafel breakfast by our wonderful driver Salah and guided through the day by Dr Azab who was vastly knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions, they were very cognisant of our needs and kept us hydrated and filled us to bursting with historical knowledge!!

This was one of the best tours that... - <p>This was one of the best tours that we took while in Egypt. Our guide Abdul was very thorough in his explanations of the temples and even went step by step explaining each of the hieroglyphics. We literally got a detailed insight of how life was in Egypt during the times of these areas. I would definitely recommend this tour to others and especially the guide Abdul.</p>

Excellent review of ancient sites - We were very impressed with Nile Holiday Tours and our guide Abdul. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with an insight on ancient Egyptian culture. He thoroughly explained in detail the meanings of literally every wall of hieroglyphics inside and out at the Esna Temple giving more commentary and ability to ask questions than any of the other private tours we took while in Egypt. At El Kab he allowed us to take our time and visit the caves after the commentary as well which I thought was a nice touch. From the beginning the service we received was both professional and catered to our specific needs for a very low price. They even kindly dropped us at the Luxor International Airport without requesting additional fees and bought us a snack on the road at a local market. We hope to get to use their services again in the very near future!!!
