DMZ and North Korean - Great visit to the DMZ. The highlight was the exchanges with the North Korean defector. She was very passionate, and the guide did an excellent job of translating. Lots of questions!

Best DMZ Tour - A must if visiting Seoul. SP Hong made the trip come to life, explaining the history of the conflict in an engaging, enthusiastic but humerous way. A top tier tour guide to see the DMZ. Meeting the defector was a personal highlight as she gave an honest, genuine account of like in North Korea and her experience defecting. No question was off limits. The time with her flew by. Note: The Third Tunnel is a very steep decent (17⁰) on an underground slope going down the equivalent of 25 stories but worth it to get 170m away from North Korea!

Understanding Past and Present in the DMZ - SP Hong is one top-notch tour guide, very funny and knowledgable too! I had been looking forward to visiting the DMZ for many months prior to this tour and SP’s gave us a great tour. Particularly interesting was the meeting with the North Korean defector prior to the tour were we got to ask her questions about her experience escaping North Korea. Fascinating story. Unfortunately, the Joint Security area is not open to the public now due to tensions between South and North Korea. I was disappointed by that. However, SP made sure we got to see and understand as much as possible in the time we had. He did a great job of that too! I found it interesting when the South Korean soldiers boarded the bus and checked our passports. That, plus seeing smaller checkpoints in the military zone with armed guards made me realize this is not simply a visit to the past. But, the DMZ is an ongoing, tense area very much of the present day. One highlight for me was seeing a North Korean flag flying in North Korea and hearing K Pop and counter propaganda being blasted by loudspeakers on the South Korean side. A very interesting tour which I enjoyed throughly! Thanks SP!

Highly recommended - We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Mr Ron Han from this company. Even though the Dora Observatory was closed due to external factors, he took us to an alternative observatory where we were still able to get a view of the North Korean houses. Mr Han provided good explanation and anecdotes of the South Korean perspective on the inter-Korean conflict and tension over the DMZ. Would recommend as an easy, stress-free way to get to know the DMZ area.

A great day and reasonable value - Really enjoyed the tour with Han - he was very informative and Ms Cho provided interesting insight into the DPRK. This was a convenient way to get to the DMZ from Seoul and to learn about an important part of our history. The drop-off at the end took a little long but this was still an excellent day and reasonable value.

Defective trip - Long waits, apparently due to external events. This made for a tedious trip. Interesting to hear from the "defector" although, disappeared after a while. Maybe went back due to boredom?

Avoid This Tour If You Want to Learn More About the DMZ - I know enough history to want to spend a day at the DMZ learning more, and this trip was poor. Our guide, SP, talked a lot and included little information besides what was written or watched, and the time with the defector included mainly Q&A, where she was asked a question and was barely allowed to speak before the guide seemed to interpret what she said and then add his answers for her including sweeping generalities. Our tour was scheduled for 7:00, but a message arrived a few days before our tour stating, "Due to recent congestion in the DMZ area, a significant waiting time is expected during entry. To facilitate a smoother entry into the DMZ, we have changed the departure time to 06:30." We arrived early only to be rushed all day. Then we had enough time to visit an amethyst factory in Hapjeong, 30 minutes from the drop-off point, because why not give a sales pitch and make more money? I've enjoyed most of the tours I've taken, whether a few hours or weeks. This is the first one that I would highly recommend others to avoid.
