• Exmouth Beach - Exmouth serves as the entrance to the Jurassic Coast. This journey will cover the initial miles of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is absolutely breathtaking. After leaving the Marina, the route follows Exmouth’s 2-mile stretch of golden sandy beach, leading to Orcombe Point, the official beginning of the Jurassic Coast.
• Orcombe Point - Orcombe Point marks the official start of the 95-mile-long Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The impressive red sandstone cliffs here date back to the Triassic period, making them the oldest on the Jurassic Coast, at over 250 million years old. As the journey continues towards Sandy Bay, travelers are treated to a stunning view of the distinct layers formed over millions of years.
• Jurassic Coast - Following Orcombe Point, the route proceeds to Straight Point, passing Sandy Bay beach and holiday park. The headland at Straight Point is an active firing range managed by the Royal Marines, where gunshots might be heard (a marked exclusion zone with a patrol vessel ensures safety). Here, the proximity to the red cliffs offers an excellent photo opportunity.
