The Argentine Cemetery serves as the final resting place for over 200 Argentine soldiers who perished in the 1982 conflict.
Following the British recapture of the Islands, many Argentine soldiers were initially interred in temporary graves, as Argentine authorities declined to permit the British to repatriate the remains, asserting that they were already buried in their homeland.
In December 1982, the British commissioned the establishment of the Cemetery, and upon its completion, the fallen Argentine soldiers were given a Christian burial with full military honors. Every effort was made to identify each soldier and appropriately mark their graves. However, a few graves bear the inscription “Argentine Soldier Known Only By God.”
Visitors have the opportunity to reflect and pay their respects to the fallen soldiers and their families during their time at the cemetery.
