Scenic E-bike tour - The E-bike tour of the farm was beautiful. Andre and the others showed us the ropes of using the bikes and were very knowledgeable about the history of the farm and the produce. We even got to try some fruit! The rum expert provided different aged rums with detailed descriptions and had a good sense of humor.

A Scenic and Unique Adventure – Worth It! - I booked this excursion through Royal Caribbean, and it ended up being the highlight of my entire cruise! -Arrival & First Impressions- Once we arrived in Falmouth, we were guided to a pavilion to wait for our group. Unfortunately, we were the last group to be called, which made us a little nervous that we had been forgotten. However, once called, we boarded the bus, and our guide (I don't remember her name) made the ride interesting by sharing local phrases in patois, facts about Jamaican currency and population, and even some natural remedies commonly used on the island. Upon arriving at Good Hope Estate, the area felt very rural and historic, which added to the experience. However, the staff at the front desk were not very friendly and seemed more focused on pushing the locker rentals rather than welcoming guests. We opted not to rent lockers and kept our backpacks, which worked out fine for us. -The E-Bike Ride – The Best Part!- Everything changed for the better once we met our guides, Fitzroy and Jamil. Fitzroy, in particular, was super friendly and took his time making sure everyone had the right helmet fit and understood how to use the e-bikes safely. One older woman in our group decided she wasn’t comfortable, and he kindly helped her find another way to enjoy the experience. The e-bikes were easy to use and very comfortable. I rode mine more like a moped by using just the throttle and not pedaling at all, which made it even easier to operate. The terrain was very bumpy with dirt roads full of potholes, so there was a lot of swerving, but I found that part fun! However, I could see how it might be challenging or stressful for someone who isn’t comfortable riding on rough terrain. -The Scenery & Experience- The scenery was absolutely stunning—rolling hills, towering palm trees, and the sounds of birds calling through the mountains made for an incredible ride. Along the way, our guides shared interesting stories about the area, like the abandoned hydroponic lettuce farm that shut down after the pandemic. One part of the experience that made me a bit uncomfortable was riding past local communities without water or electricity. While it was eye-opening and educational to see, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we had just come from a cruise ship and were now riding e-bikes through someone’s front yard. I’m not sure how I would have preferred this part of the trip, but it left me feeling a bit conflicted. That said, our guides made sure we had local fruit samples to try—like sugar cane, Jamaican apples, and fresh coconut water—and I appreciated their attention to sanitation, wearing gloves, and using tongs to serve everything. -Additional Activities & Overall Thoughts- When we returned to Good Hope, we skipped the Appleton Rum Tasting, though they made sure we knew it was included. We didn’t eat at the Riverside Restaurant & Bar or buy anything from the gift shop, so I can’t comment on those. One minor concern—while we were given regular bicycle helmets, the e-bikes go pretty fast, and I’m not sure how much protection they would have provided in a serious crash. It wasn’t a problem for me, but something to consider. -Final Verdict – Highly Recommend!- Despite a rocky start with the delayed departure and less-than-welcoming front desk staff, this excursion was phenomenal. The breathtaking scenery, amazing guides (shoutout to Fitzroy and Jamil!), and the thrill of riding an e-bike through Jamaica’s countryside made this the best excursion of my cruise. If you’re comfortable on a bike and looking for a unique way to experience Jamaica, I highly recommend this tour!

Enjoyed the ebike. - Enjoyed the ebiking. Our group enjoyed the ebike, it was fun to see some of the real jamaica, and learn about some of the local crops. Watch out for all of the potholes. Would have like to enjoy the scenery more, but really had to watch the road.! Some in my group, thought this was the best part of our day. The rum tasting was ok.
