- Gallipoli - Begin your journey from your centrally located Istanbul hotel in the early morning aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned coach. Enjoy a relaxing drive to the historic Gallipoli Peninsula, known for being the site of one of the most intense military campaigns of World War I.
During the trip, your guide will share insightful information about the unsuccessful Allied land campaign that commenced in April 1915 with the landings of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC). The ANZACs aimed to defeat the Ottoman Turkish forces and capture Istanbul — then called Constantinople — to support the struggling Russian forces. However, by January 1916, the campaign had ended, and Allied troops withdrew, with an estimated total of 100,000 lives lost on both sides.
- Anzac Cove - After approximately 5 hours, arrive at Gallipoli for a guided tour of its significant sites. Explore ANZAC Cove, the landing beach of April 25th, and The Nek, the site of a tragic Australian assault. Also, visit Johnston’s Jolly, where the original Turkish and Allied trenches remain.
- Anzac Cove - You will also see the solemn memorials honoring the fallen. Visit the moving Australian Lone Pine Cemetery and Memorial, which bears the names of nearly 5,000 soldiers, and view the New Zealand Memorial at Chunuk Bair, the location of a valiant New Zealand stand in August 1915.
- Istanbul - The tour includes a lunch stop in the early afternoon, with the meal provided and drinks available at your own cost. Around 6pm, depart the battlefields and unwind as you return to Istanbul, concluding your tour with a hotel drop-off.
