The Topkapi Palace served as the principal residence of Ottoman Empire for over 380 years, housing 24 out of 36 Sultans. The palace was converted into a museum in 1924, making it one of Turkey’s most iconic museums with its permanent and temporary display halls. It is a complex of buildings and courtyards that contain a treasury, residential apartments, bathhouses, harems, and an armoury, relics of holiness, not forgetting the imperial halls, cooking areas and royal chambers that present a visit to Topkapi’s innermost walls as one of the world’s biggest wonders. Within these walls are treasures like 13th-century Japanese porcelain, weapons used by the Ottoman forces, a richness of an 86-carat 4th largest diamond of its kind and the globally renown Topkapi Dagger and more.
