Super Otherworldly Experience - I'm a massive music fan of a huge range of styles including "World Music" going back to the early 80s. I think I may have learned of the Dervishes first at university where you could listen to records like theirs at my dorm's libary. Their music & dance is cosmically psychonautic & otherworldly-love it. So when in "Rome" as they say, in Istanbul since this was available near where I was staying in Sultanahmet, I was all in. Overall, a great one hour performance. Yes, it's a regular staged event embedded in this location but you take what you can get & this was a strong representation of what they & the setting inside helped w/the overall ambience. Great stuff-I was mesmerized.

Mesmerizing and impressive! - The information provided in the exhibits outside the ceremony space and in the video and slides throughout were helpful to better understand what we were witnessing. It is not something that I would recommend to people who are easily bored with repetitive movements. For me that was part of what made it so impressive. The discipline, commitment and dedication to that level of focus and physical activity was inspiring.

Worthwhile event - recommend, but research a bit about it and definitely spend 20 min+ at the exhibition beforehand - If you don’t look up the history and meaning of the entire event and how the Whirling Dervishes began, enjoying the hour observing the event may not be as good. The museum is very worthwhile with a lot of reading, poems, but taking time to research is advised as well. I did and now understand more of Sufism and Whirling Dervishes. They were serious, believable and amazing to us. No photos allowed. Seating is Very close to the stage and you can observe every single expression and moment. We liked this show and exhibition very much.

Wonderfully authentic but just too long - I really hate to say that I probably wouldn't recommend this hour long show to a friend because while I actually enjoyed learning about and seeing the Whirling Dervishes, the overall consensus of our group (4 adults, 3 kids ages 13-15) was that it was just too long. We all understand and appreciate that it is a ceremony and that walking in late or leaving early would have been distracting and, well, rude, but if there was a way to get a peak or 30 minute version, it would have been better received, especially with the kids. The $41 full rate for the 7pm (19:00) show seems excessive and luckily, I discovered the 5:00 daily "Happy Hour" rate of $31 which doesn't appear on their website when you click on "Whirling Dervish". Instead, you must go to: https://www.hodjapasha.com/en/online-ticket-sale-2/ . But even $31/each for a family of four is pretty pricey. Now, me personally, I enjoyed the music, lesson in their culture and tradition, seeing the Dervishes incredible faith, commitment and balance, especially at full spinning speed. I am glad we did the experience and it was only an hour of our 2 days in Istanbul, after the Turkish Bath (Cagaloglu Hamami is the best!) and before a wonderful dinner (Gulhane Sark Sofrasi was excellent). The venue (inside an old Hamam) is beautiful. I was between giving 3 or 4 stars...3 for the price and length of the show (although the kids would likely say 1 or 2)...4 because of the cultural authenticity and music. But again, if you're with kids, I'd suggest you pass. Ours tolerated it and one fell asleep.

Short show - The show gutted us, punctual and spiritual, but it is very expensive given the duration. The room well aired and clean.

NOT TO BE REPEATED - Never again to repeat. The seats they gave us inside the theater did not allow a perfect view and we could not appreciate the show.
