Fes to Merzouga

Medina of Fez - The journey begins at the Medina of Fes, where the team will collect guests from their hotel.

Ifrane - The adventure starts by traveling through Ifrane, a winter ski resort established by the French in the 1930s to mimic a Swiss village.

Azrou Cedar Forest - Continue through the cedar forests in Azrou, where monkeys can be spotted, and drive across the Middle Atlas Mountains. The day will be spent winding through stunning forests, springs, rugged rock faces, and Berber villages while crossing the Atlas Mountains, descending towards the Sahara Desert.

Midelt - Midway, there will be a stop for lunch in Midelt, a town renowned for its fossils and rocks, before continuing on the road to Merzouga.

Merzouga - Pause to enjoy a panoramic view of a vast palm tree oasis and arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. After some mint tea, the guide and camels will be ready to take guests across the sandy dunes of Erg-Chebbi. Relish the sunset’s beauty on camelback, and after an hour, reach the desert camp to spend the night in a Berber tent. At the desert shelter, camels are hobbled, and mint tea is served. After a delightful dinner, gaze at the stars until sleep comes.

Merzouga to Gorges or Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate - Following a tasty breakfast, depart for Ouarzazate, traveling the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, which rise like turreted sand castles along this historic caravan trading route. This area has been a favored location for Hollywood films such as The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and more recently, Hideous Kinky. The central region is one of Morocco’s most thrilling and romantic destinations, nestled along rich river valleys, palm groves, and vibrant mud-brick homes under the blue desert sky.

Dades Gorges - Stop for lunch and explore the Todra Gorge. Travel through the Dadès Valley past dramatic escarpments and enjoy a late dinner at the hotel in the Gorges or in Ouarzazate.

Ouarzazate to Marrakech

Ouarzazate - Savor breakfast, then explore the town of Ouarzazate, including the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios movie studios (an 8 € fee per person applies), the largest and most renowned in Africa. Next, stop in Ait Ben Haddou, arriving in time for lunch. Here, visit the famous Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for movies like The Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia.

Tizi n Tichka - Travel through the High Atlas and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, along a road that ascends from the plains to 2260m above sea level, passing small villages and waterfalls, with ever-changing landscapes and colors of the beautiful mountains. Return to the hotel or riad in Marrakech at the day’s end.
