Fes Medina tour is as close to time travel as you'll get - While researching for the Morocco trip we decided to spend more time in Fes compared to the other cities, as it's said that the Fes Medina is the biggest and the most atmospheric one in Morocco. I'm delighted to say that having Mohammed as our guide has made this Medina tour easily the centrepiece of our Morocco trip. Mohammed is very proactive and clear with his communication. He called ahead and prearranged to meet us at our riad. We walked through the alleyways, learning about the history of Fes to the iconic blue gate where the Medina tour started in the earnest. From there, we meandered through the medieval alleys of the Medina, while our senses soaked in the aroma of the spices, the colours of the artisan wares and flavours from the food and grocery stalls. We stopped frequently to visit some of the important historical sites. I'll leave the details for you to be surprised and delighted when you do this tour yourself; I'll just emphasise that having a knowledgeable and engaging guide like Mohammed by your side is an absolute essential to make the most of every minute you spend inside this time capsule. Two places that I felt are absolute must are the Bou-Inania Madrasah, for it's outstanding craftsmanship, and the museum and the building of Fondouk Nejjarnine. Both the places present examples of an unparalleled level of craft excellence. Later in the tour you will also get ample opportunity to visit a number of co-ops where you can shop in a very friendly and fun environment. Here in Morocco you're encouraged to bargain, so embrace it as part of the buying experience, as Mohammed will also tell you. He almost acts as your guardian angel during the tour, looking after your well being and your comfort and makes sure you have a fantastic experience. Mohammed, thank you for making our Fes Medina experience such a special one (and also teaching me the secret behind the number symbols ;-)

An Insider’s View of the Medina! - As a native from the Medina, Mohammed gave us an insiders tour of the Medina. He was flexible with our schedule and allowed us to detour to a rooftop cafe when we got hungry. The Medina is overwhelming if you don’t know what you are doing. Mohammed navigated with ease and taught us much about the history and culture.

Great introduction to Fes’ medina - Excellent tour of the Medina, guided by Mohammed. All the main attractions covered and we got a good impression of the various souks and trades. The only thing I thought was that it offered too much opportunity for all the traders to ply their trade and at some point (at the tannery) we were quite pressured to buy. Other than that great walk around and introduction to Fes.
