Day 1: Fes —> Ifrane —> Middle Atlas Mountains —> Ziz Valley —> Merzouga Desert.
Fes - Upon arriving at the meeting point, guests will be warmly welcomed by our guide and directed to the vehicle. For added convenience, a photograph of the vehicle will be provided two days before the departure date.
Ifrane - Our first stop is Ifrane, often called the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’ due to its unique Alpine-style architecture with gabled roofs. We will take a brief, scenic walk here. The city was originally founded by the French administration in 1928 as a hill station to escape the intense Sahara heat.
Middle Atlas - After our stop in Ifrane, we will continue driving through the Middle Atlas Mountains, pausing in a Cedar forest where we might spot a monkey species native to the Atlas Mountains.
Ferme Ziz Valley - After enjoying lunch at a restaurant along the way, we will proceed to Merzouga. On the journey, we will stop for a panoramic view of an oasis filled with palm trees.
Merzouga - In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Merzouga Desert. Here, guests will switch from four wheels to four legs as we embark on a camel trek across the vast sand dunes. The ride to our luxury camp takes about one hour and forty minutes, with a special stop on a high dune to watch the sunset paint the Erg Chebbi dunes in golden light. Once at camp, our team will welcome guests and show them to their private tent. After dinner, join us around the campfire to enjoy traditional Berber drumming and singing. It’s the perfect way to end the night before lying back to admire the brilliant starry sky.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert —> Rissani —> Todra Gorges —> Dades Gorges —> Ouarzazate.
Merzouga - It is highly recommended to wake up early today to witness a truly glorious sunrise over the dunes. After a delicious breakfast at camp, guests can choose their mode of transport back: either ride a camel again or take a 4x4 vehicle. For those seeking extra adventure, quad biking and buggy driving are available this morning for an additional cost. Please inform the guide tonight if you wish to add this activity so arrangements can be made.
Rissani - If today is Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, we will make a special stop in Rissani to experience its traditional souk—a vibrant market open only three days a week. This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse in local life and commerce. Beyond the market, Rissani holds great historical significance as the founding city of Morocco’s current ruling dynasty.
Todgha Gorge - After exploring the historic city of Rissani, we will travel to the Todra Gorge, the deepest canyon in Morocco, known for its towering cliffs that rise over 300 meters. We will enjoy a leisurely walk beneath these magnificent rock faces before continuing to our final destination for the day.
Dades Gorges - This afternoon, we will reach the beautiful Dades Gorges. Our first stop is a unique rock formation called the ‘Monkey Fingers’—you will see why when we get there! After taking in that sight, we will drive a bit further to a spectacular panoramic viewpoint where you can admire the full scale of the gorges.
Ouarzazate - Ouarzazate is known as the ‘Hollywood of Africa’ and serves as the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, guests will be taken to their hotel to check in, freshen up, and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Ouarzazate —> Studio —> Ait Ben Haddou —> High Atlas Mountains —> Marrakech.
Ouarzazate - After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, we will drive past the renowned Atlas Studio—the largest film studio in the world by land area—which has hosted major productions such as Aladdin, Vikings, and Prison Break. We will pause for photos outside the studio before continuing to explore the magnificent Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
Atlas Studios - Optional Studio Visit: If guests wish to tour the interior of Atlas Studio, please note that it requires approximately 1.5 hours and an entrance ticket (not included in the tour price). Kindly inform the guide if this option is preferred.
Ait Ben Haddou - Our guide will accompany guests through the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, sharing its fascinating history along the way. This striking fortified village stands as a magnificent example of traditional Moroccan architecture. It originally served as a caravanserai—a resting place for trade caravans crossing the great Sahara Desert. Today, the Kasbah’s cinematic appeal has made it a sought-after filming location, having appeared in renowned productions such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and many others.
High Atlas Mountains Guide - Following our time at the Kasbah, we will head towards Marrakech, journeying over the stunning High Atlas Mountains. We will pause at a few key spots along the route so guests can take in the spectacular views and capture some memorable photos.
Marrakech - We will reach Marrakech in the late afternoon. Guests will be dropped off as close as possible to their hotel or Riad, keeping in mind that some areas of the Medina are pedestrian-only. This concludes our 3-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech. We hope everyone enjoyed the journey!
