Although the aurora is a natural occurrence and cannot be guaranteed, you will still have the opportunity to get close to the reindeer, engage with local culture, and try your hand at “suopunki” throwing – the traditional lasso technique for catching reindeer.
This activity provides an authentic taste of the Arctic lifestyle, blending local culture, delicious cuisine, and the enchanting northern sky.

Great experience - Beautiful experience in a family farm on a human scale. Our host Johanna gave us a great welcome and taught us a lot about reindeer and their way of life. This is undoubtedly the best experience we had during our stay and we thank him for it!

Northern Lights and Gentle Experiences - We were greeted by a bunch of reindeer at the ranch about 10 minutes from Ivarro. We waited for the Aurora Borealis to grow, lighting a bonfire in a tall tent with traditional shapes. It was a homely experience, very cold but heartwarming. And I met the Northern Lights in a place only she knows! And she took a lot of the best pictures. The drinks and sausages we received around the campfire were exceptional. I want to see her and her reindeer again.

Amazing experience with reindeer!!! - Amazing experience! First night of hunting in the Auroras, and we were with Johanna our guide, who was extremely friendly!!
We saw and fed dozens of reindeer, ate in the typical carp and searched for auroras. Super recommended!! Johanna a 10!!!

Lovely 💙🤍🇫🇮🫶🏻 - We found this to be a truly lovely experience with the reindeer and Niilo. It was fascinating to hear everything our host shared about the reindeer and his family, a family business that has been passed down for 300 years. The reindeer are wonderfully curious, coming into the hut and even lying down beside you, which made the experience feel very special and personal. It felt ethical, educational, and meaningful. A unique and valuable experience. Thank you! 🦌✨

Great and Wondeful Event In Ivalo - This was most amazing event in our Christmas holiday. We were around Ivalo area 1 week. Cost of happening was very reasonable and the atmosphere at the evening time was very warm and quiet. We had 8 person around open fire and eating reindeer soup with incredible taste. Stuff was helpful and love to work with customers. Best things were absolutely the reindeer and the soup.

Best experience ever! - Johanna and Niilo did everything they could to make our experience exceptional! We are very grateful to have met them both, their reindeer, their tippy, and their wonderful handmade snaks.
Plus, their way of explaining the Northern Lights to us as we drove in their van in search of the auroras, and the pictures they took us while enjoying the northern lights, made the hole experience an unforgettable one.

Excellent - The setting is just magical... soup in a kotta in front of the fire all surrounded by young reindeer and feeding them. I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights the day I went there.

Dinner and reindeer experience with great conversation. - This was a great experience, we really enjoyed the time spent with Johanna and her partner at the reindeer farm. They were very friendly and personable. We learned a lot about lapland and reindeer herding. The locally sourced dinner which was prepared for us was absolutely delicious. They have many reindeer on their property. The reindeer are not quite used to being around people, but are willing to come close the be fed. We did learn though with more exposure they may become more comfortable with people. I would recommend booking this tour if you are visiting Ivalo.
