Just 2 km from the main park of Filandia I found “La Reserva Barbas Bremen”, a natural destination where I walked trails full of varied vegetation; in which, if you are lucky, you will be able to meet the Howler Monkey, one of the largest primates in Colombia, which is only found in mountainous areas with humid and cloud forests or dry tropical forests.

Monkey's nearly pooped on us. 5 stars. - Saw monkeys almost immediately!
I know these things are never guaranteed, nature is nature, but I would still give it a 5 star rating even if we hadn't seen them. Our guide Juan David was great, relaxed, informative, fun and spotted the first mother and baby monkey when she was mostly hidden behind a branch.
The tour even started off bumpy - after meeting our guide, the Willy's Jeep broke down immediately. These things happen and we got another car after a few mins, travelling to the reserve and following a beautiful trail round whilst Juan David explained some info about the reserve, the plants and spotted butterflies and insects. We ended at a waterfall for a cooling dip and climbed back.
If we come back to Filandia I would probably go again.

Great jungle adventure! - This was an amazing day in the reserve, we heard the monkeys howling and saw them on some distance.
We also saw lots of butterflies, some colibries and a coral snake!
The vegetation was amazing too and we really walked inside the jungle, sometimes a bit challenging climbing over rocks and slippery slopes. An adventure for sure! Passed a couple of beautiful waterfalls as well and had a shower!
Our guide Juan David was great, teaching us about plants and animals and helped everyone along the way!

Great experience - The tour in itself is absolutely beautiful, inside a lush tropical forest with a river and waterfalls, perfect for people who want to be immersed in nature. We were lucky and we could spot several monkeys, of course they don’t come too close because they’re wild animals but just watching them in their natural environment was so beautiful. And a special thanks goes to David our guide who was patient and professional with us beginners. Absolutely recommended.

Great hike - This was a nice hike through the forest. Unfortunately, no monkeys were available but our guide Jeronimo did a great job explaining the changes in the forest and what to look for.

Poor Communication - Our tour was sub contracted to another company in Filandia (Caminetas y Aventuras) & we had a successful and professionally led tour. However there was no communication from Rural Adventure so we didnt know about the change of pick up point. Only encountered our guide because we made calls ourselves. Poor communication.

Poverty - Quite an expensive walk. The only thing I saw was one monkey. Big disappointment, I expected more! In Colombia you can see and experience much more for less money or even for free.
