The tour guide and boat... - The tour guide and boat was easy to find in the old harbour. The tour left promptly as expected. The crossing over to the volcanic island was beautiful. Once on the island we were given plenty of time to look around. There is a fair bit of uphill and downhill walking. The views from the top were stunning. The trip over to the hot springs was very choppy but worth the visit. It was fun jumping off the boat into the sea and feeling the difference in water temperature as you swim into the thermal waters. All in all a great few hours spent

Crazily fun and happy boat trip (party) - Mika and Fortis took care us very well. Captain Natalia make us a safety journey. I really have fun specially met a lot of new friends during this boat party. Free flow white wine and different drinks. They explained to us the historical background for the place we saw. We also learned some Greek's culture from Mika. YAMAS!

Santorini sail - We had a short time but wanted some time on the water. This 3-hour sail met our needs perfectly. The sail, hike and swim were a great experience.

Good Experience, Great Views - Good experience. Hard walk up the volcano but the views from the top were amazing. Guide was very informative and stopped at various points to wait for stragglers. Swimming at hot springs was cut short by some idiots not returning to the boat at the volcano at the correct time even though it was told to them on numerous occasions. This meant some people were still swimming to the location of the hot springs when they were called back to the boat to leave. It is a good swim to the hot springs so not suitable for poor swimmers. Flotation woggles were supplied but some still stayed in the boat when they realised how far away it was.

A nice day trip under the hot sun - The volcanic isle was great. The lunch at Thirasia was superb. I wish I had received clearer information about the boat's route for the way back. It's worthwhile getting something from the bar once the return starts. You're in for a long detour and scenic route before disembarking. I'd position myself by the railing on portside for optimum vantage point for the best photos. I didn't try swimming in the hot springs although I did have swimwear packed with me. It seemed like a crowded and rushed affair to me. If you want to take a swim during the brief hot springs stop I'd advise you wear your swimwear ready under the clothes already unless you want to change on a packed deck or in the ship's toilet.

Trail to volcano is quite... - Trail to volcano is quite strenuous! Views are incredible and swimming to hot springs (actually just warm) was great.

It's a workout - It's a lot of walking uphill to the top of the volcano. Make sure you wear your tennis shoes. It does have beautiful views. The hot springs we're just tepid in September but everyone seemed to enjoy it

Volcano Boat trip-recommended! - First off, bring lots of water, snacks, and sunblock. We took a taxi from the new port (Athinios-where the ferry dropped us) to the old port (Fira-where this activity starts. I knew we would have to navigate the 588 steps down to the dock. We chose to walk, but be forewarned, the donkeys were pissing and pooping everywhere. I am glad I walked the steps though. It certainly was a unique experience. The other options are to either ride said donkeys (I didn’t have the heart) or take the cable car down (the line could be long). The boat ride was nice and the crew gave detailed instructions. The climb to Nea Kameni is a climb. Make sure you have on sturdy tennis shoes or hiking boots. We saw a man in flipflops and his feet were bleeding. Plenty of time was given for pics and discussion about each stop. Back on the boat and the next stop was a swim in Palea Kameni. It was cool to experience the cool blue waters turning brown warm. Make sure you have a noodle if you don’t have 100% confidence in your swimming abilities. Now here is the more important part and let me say that I’ve researched Santorini and I thought I was prepared. We got off the excursion at 2pm and by the time we got off the cable car, it was closer to 3pm. The last bus leaving Fira was at 2:15pm and so we knew we had to look for a taxi to bring us back to Athinios. We were repeatedly told “no” because of “too much traffic.” One driver said we would be charged upwards of $250 (the trip was about 5 miles). After scrambling for about 30 minutes, we found a heaven-sent driver who was transporting some tourists in the same direction and agreed to take us. The best advice is to make sure you pre-arrange your transportation for post-excursion. Other than the post-boat transportation issues, this was a great experience!

Fine but not great - The communication prior to the tour was good. The boat was very nice with plenty of shade. It was a large group which stopped at the volcano first. The tour guide provided very limited information and only walked a short way up the volcano with the group. After that we explored it on our own with the signs to indicate which crater was still active, etc. afterward we went to the hot springs which were not as impressive as imagined. Overall the tour was fine but don’t expect too much in terms of history and information. The 5 euro to get onto the volcano is also not included in the ticket price.
