- Grand Canyon National Park - Arrive at the magnificent South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park. The tour includes the park entry fee. Watch for elk as the drive through the park takes about 10 minutes to reach the first stop.
- Yavapai Point - Begin near Yavapai Point with a restroom break, followed by initial views of the Grand Canyon, featuring an introduction to its remarkable features and geology.
From this vantage point, see the Bright Angel Trail, Phantom Ranch, and the Kaibab Suspension Bridge, along with views of the Colorado River below.
- Grand Canyon South Rim - Discover the highlights of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and Desert View Drive, with stops at key overlooks.
During the visit to the Grand Canyon, discussions will cover the biblical creation and the global Flood narratives from the book of Genesis, and their connection to the canyon’s rock layers. The conversation will then shift to the events believed to have carved the Grand Canyon—a significant amount of water, in a short period, from a massive lake spillover on the Colorado Plateau.
- Grandview Point - Pause at Grandview Point for distant views of the Colorado River and Tanner Rapid. Learn about the Grand Canyon’s Wild West history, including copper mining and perhaps a river trip tale or two!
- Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower - Stop at Desert View for a lunch break, with food options available at the Market and Deli, offering hot foods, salads, and sandwiches, along with a small grocery store. Bringing a lunch is also an option, though space for large coolers on the tour vehicle may be limited.
- Navajo Nation - Descend 3,000 feet from the Kaibab Plateau into the Navajo Nation lands. With dramatic views of the Little Colorado River Gorge and the distant Painted Desert, the journey is filled with stunning scenery and Wild West charm.
- Wupatki National Monument - Explore nearly 1,000-year-old Native American Indian ruins, surrounded by high desert grasses and red rocks.
Discussions will include the Ice Age and the migration of people groups worldwide, including the Sinagua Ancestral Puebloans, once known as the “Anasazi,” who lived in this area. The distant Hopi Mesas, where these Ancient Ones (Hisatsinom) relocated, will also be visible. Keep an eye out for pronghorn antelope, coyotes, or birds of prey in this landscape.
- Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument - The drive from Wupatki to Sunset Crater Volcano ascends around 2,000 feet from desert rocks and grasses to tall Ponderosa pines, exploring the otherworldly landscape of the San Francisco Volcanic Field.
The destination is Sunset Crater Volcano, the area’s most recent eruption site. Upon arrival, embark on a loop trail to get up close and personal with the volcanic rocks, learning about lava tubes, caves, and spatter cone “hornitos” that surround the area.
The trail loop is optional, with additional viewpoints or shorter routes available for those not wishing to walk.
- Flagstaff - The scenic views continue on the return drive to Flagstaff. With the best views of the San Francisco Peaks throughout the day, the landscape often reveals surprises such as deer, elk, meadows, and fields of wildflowers. The return to the DoubleTree Hotel for drop-off is typically around 6:00 p.m.
