• Luminous Lagoon Martha Brea River SUP - Upon reaching the Lagoon, visitors will be warmly welcomed by a professional and friendly staff member, who will offer a complimentary drink before they board the boat. The captain will then set off on a brief 5-minute boat ride, during which he will explain the unique phenomenon of the Lagoon. Once a suitable location is found, he will anchor the boat, allowing visitors to enjoy a swim for a few minutes. Afterward, the captain will return to the dock, where visitors can disembark.

The lagoon is home to millions of tiny creatures known as dinoflagellates (try saying that five times fast!). These organisms thrive where the Martha Brae River meets the Caribbean Sea. When they are disturbed—by our boat or, even better, by you splashing around—they illuminate! This creates an eerie, shimmering, electric blue-green glow, reminiscent of a scene from a fantasy film.

As we navigate the waters, you’ll witness the boat’s wake leaving a sparkling trail. Splash some water, and watch it explode into a burst of light. For the adventurous, take a swim and become a glowing marvel yourself!
