• Palazzo Pitti - Situated on the southern side of Florence near the Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace was constructed in the mid-1500s during the Renaissance period. Since the Medici Family’s decline, the palace has changed hands several times. One prominent figure who took control was Napoleon, who used it as a power base in the 18th century. After Italy unified into the nation we know today, Palazzo Pitti served as the main Royal Palace. The palace is steeped in history and significant events, in addition to housing an impressive collection of artwork and masterpieces within its vast 32,000 square meters of galleries.
• Giardino di Boboli - Created by the Medici family in Florence, just behind the Pitti Palace, the gardens established the Italian garden style that became a model for many European courts.
