The first stop is Lucca, where you can enjoy free time to stroll along the elegant 16th-century walls and explore the historical center, including Piazza dell’Antifeatro, Torre Guinigi, Duomo di San Martino, and a street known for antique dealers.

Dating back to the 1300s, the tower was built by wealthy families as a status symbol. It is one of the few remaining towers within Lucca’s walls, notable for the tall trees growing atop it. Originally, the kitchen was on the floor below, with the rooftop serving as a kitchen garden. The ancient holm oaks symbolize rebirth and renewal.

The Guinigi family descendants donated the tower to the local government. Climbing the tower requires an onsite ticket purchase.

• Piazza Anfiteatro - Located in the northeast quadrant of Lucca’s walled center, this public square follows the elliptical shape of the former 2nd-century Roman Amphitheater. The square evolved from the Middle Ages onwards.
• Lucca’s Duomo (Cattedrale di San Martino) - This Roman Catholic cathedral, dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, is the seat of the Archbishop of Lucca. Construction began in 1063 by Bishop Anselm, later Pope Alexander II.
• Piazza del Duomo - Proceed to Pisa for free time to view the Leaning Tower and explore Piazza dei Miracoli’s other famous monuments: Pisa Baptistery and Pisa Duomo. During the hour-long visit, discover Piazza dei Cavalieri, home to the historic Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. Remember to book online if you wish to climb the Leaning Tower, as tickets are not included.
• Fattoria San Michele a Torri - Conclude with a visit to an organic Chianti winery. Sample the region’s renowned wine, taste extra virgin olive oil with a snack, and learn about local winemaking traditions.

The tour concludes with a drop-off at your central hotel or at Hotel Boccaccio, Via della Scala 59, Florence.
