I am Captain Gresh Meggett and I am an eighth generation Charlestonian. My family has been plying these waters since the early 1700s. These beautiful estuaries that we will be traveling on were my playground as a kid and I still get just as I was excited when I go into them now! All of my boat charters are private so it is just you and your family on…

One of the must-do tours while you are in Charleston! - We had a private tour rescheduled due to weather, and our concierge gave us the incorrect new time. Gresh was kind enough to allow us to join another family on their tour. You get to hear some of his family's history in the area, see oyster reefs, dolphins, and then you are dropped off on Morris Island for around 45 minutes to look for shells, take pics etc. The boat was very clean and the boat ride very pleasant. I'd recommend wearing comfortable shoes that can get sandy and a small bag to carry your shells. Cost was 225/couple.

A fantastic trip to Morris Island - This was a wonderful trip! Captain Gresh is so friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife found there. Morris Island is beautiful and peaceful, and it's great that Gresh welcomed our dog on his boat. So much better having this private quiet trip rather than with a tourist group. We plan to do this again.

Morris Island Lighthouse Eco-Tour - Spent the morning with Gresh on the Morris Island Lighthouse Eco-Tour and cannot begin to tell you what a great time we had. There’s nothing like getting a history tour from an 8th generation Charlestonian. Gresh took us for a close up of the oyster beds and a pod of dolphins, approximately 5 feet from our boat. Then he dropped us off on the island for 45 minutes to tour on our own. I highly recommend taking his tour when visiting Charleston S.C.

Family friendly personalized experience- do it. Do it now. Book it trust me - Thank you to everyone that took the time to post photos and do detailed reviews for this. It’s what made me book it. So, I too am returning the favor in hopes it helps another family find this awesome adventure. We were RVing at the KOA and wanted to do a fun adventure. We were two families that each have a 9 year old. It was AMAZING!!!! Gresh was a local who was passionate about Charleston, its history and his roots. We saw dolphins (moms with their babies ) and loved getting to explore that deserted beach with tons of shells, starfish and just beauty. We did the 11am-1pm which was perfect if you have kids. Right after the boat adventure we grabbed food down at a local pub and then headed back to the campsite. I love that it was just our family crew so we weren’t there stuck with any annoying people (because my old tired mom self doesn’t feel like dealing with 20year old drunks on a party boat ) This was well worth the price (I was shocked it wasn’t more expensive ) (way less expensive then any tourist trap and it was the most amazing individualized experience ever) Thank you Gresh. You rocked

Amazing experience with dog - We took the 8am morning tour with Captain Gresh! Gresh was amazing and so informative, our 3 year mini aussie really enjoyed the boat ride as well! It was such a great experience when Gresh let us get off at Morris Island and told us to let our dog run free! One of the best times our dog ever had :) We even saw many dolphins on the way back! Highly reccommend taking this tour with Captain Gresh!

Excellent Private Charter - Capt Gresh was the greatest! He far exceeded our expectations. He was on time, professional and friendly. He was full of history, current info and fun facts too. His boat was clean and in proper working order. He knew all the rivers, creeks and waterways like the back of his hand. We saw so many things I hadn’t seen before and some old favorites too, including: oyster beds, crab traps, beautiful homes, the Morris Island landscape at low tide, shells, birds, flounder, dolphins, even old bullets from the Civil War! We felt safe because of Capt Gresh’s good instruction. We would book with him again and again. One of the highlights of our trip to Folly Beach and the Charleston area.

Fun and adventure - What a memorable experience for our family. We truly enjoyed our time on Morris Island and watching the dolphins surround our boat throughout the journey. Captain Gresh and his boat are perfect size, well maintained and clean. Captain is very knowledgable as he grew up in these waters and has answers to all your questions. He had samples of some unique finds from Morris Island that he showed my kids which they loved. Our goal was to find fossils or unique items during our excursion. He was able to identify most items we found in Morris Island and were able to take them all home. We found large beaver tooth and fossilized whale bone. Highly recommend this tour!

Best guided tour on the island - We couldn’t have picked a better tour than with Capitan Gresh. He is so knowledgeable about history of the lighthouse and the area. He made us feel right at home as soon as we got on the boat! I would highly recommend taking the dolphin-lighthouse tour with him.

Lighthouse Eco Tour-AMAZING - Captain Gresh was a wonderful host. He met us in the parking lot and made sure we parked in a spot that would not get us ticketed. We have a son with special needs. He made sure he was taken care of and had the best seat on the boat. The ride out and back were fun. We saw dolphins and oyster beds. He would stop so we could get pictures. He is a native of this area and shared the history with us. Once we got to the island we were free to explore on our own. I recommend wearing water shoes. There were whelk seashells, sand dollars, crabs, etc. Amazing photos with the Morris lighthouse in the background!! This was my favorite activity of our trip. So peaceful and calm once you reached this island!

An intimate & informative look at Lowcountry marshes, great shelling, and dolphins! - Two hours was barely enough time to soak in all the history and interesting facts Captain Gresh shared with us. Boating to Morris Island through the marshes was beyond beautiful, and we saw more dolphins (and their calves) up close and personal than I've seen living here for 40+ years. The shelling and shark tooth hunting on Morris Island was outstanding. If you're just visiting Folly Beach or the Charleston area, this is a MUST DO for a very intimate look at the Lowcountry's pristine waterways and ecosystems.
