Olympic National Park boasts remarkable eco-diversity. This full-day excursion to Hoh Rain Forest and Rialto Beach highlights the stunning natural beauty of the temperate rain forest and Olympic Wilderness Coast. Following a picturesque two-hour shuttle ride from Port Angeles, participants can enjoy a guided hiking tour led by a naturalist along the Hall of Mosses and Spruce Nature Trail in the Hoh Rain Forest. Hike one or both loops with the guide and discover the micro-plants, ancient old-growth forests, and the rain forest’s ecology.
After a 20-minute pause in Forks, spend the rest of the afternoon at Rialto Beach. Take a leisurely walk along the forested coastline or relax on a beach log, admiring the crashing waves and towering sea stacks.
- Olympic Hiking Co. operates the tour rain or shine. Cancellations due to weather not permitted.

- Our meet-up location is in Port Angeles, WA, which is the main epicenter for exploring Olympic National Park. Please note that this is about a 3 hour one-way trip from Seattle.

Amazing rainforest and beach experience with the Olympic hiking co guided tour - I had an amazing experience with Olympic Hiking Co during my guided tour of the Hoh Rain Forest and Rialto Beach. The company was very organized, friendly, and accommodating, which I appreciated very much especially since I was traveling solo on a very tight schedule.
I arrived early in the morning at the Olympic Hiking Co office in Port Angeles. Although I had all my luggage with me, the staff kindly offered to store my luggage safely until I returned from the tour. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were welcoming and professional.
We made brief stops at Forks Outfitters for restrooms and snacks on our way to and from the rainforest. The drive itself was scenic, especially the stunning views of Lake Crescent.
Our guide was absolutely fantastic - knowledgeable, engaging, and very passionate about nature. He taught us how to identify different trees such as spruce, fir, and hemlock, and even had us taste wood sorrel, which had a lime-pepper flavor.
He also shared fun mnemonics (“Fir feels friendly, spruce feels spiky, hemlocks have stems”) and amazing insights about the forest ecosystem - from devil’s club to fairy barf lichens. We learned about ferns, step moss, and saw a black licorice slug.
We did a second hike - the Spruce Nature Trail - which led us to the beautiful Hoh River. I loved both hikes - hall of mosses and spruce nature trail!
After the rainforest, we drove to Rialto Beach, stopping briefly again in Forks. The beach was stunning with dramatic cliffs, ocean mist, and iconic Twilight vibes. Though it was cloudy and a bit cold, the scenery was breathtaking. We also saw a fun sign that read “No Vampires Beyond This Point,” on our way to the beach.
Overall, Olympic Hiking Co exceeded my expectations. Their tours are perfect for solo travelers and small groups. This was an amazing experience for me, and I’m so glad I did this tour.

It was great! Oscar was... - It was great! Oscar was the perfect guide and just what I was hoping for...someone who really knew the area and was excited to share that knowledge in a fun and casual way. When we go on family trips, I always joke that we need a backseat biologist, or geologist, or whatever expert would be able to answer all our questions. That's exactly what this was like, only he also did the driving too! We would definitely recommend this to everyone looking to experience the Hoh Rainforest inside and out!

Unforgettable experience - Our guide, Eric, was amazing. He shared lots of interesting information and insights about the Hoh Rainforest and its unique ecosystem. He was an enthusiastic communicator and educator about the natural world around us. He helped us understand the large-scale meaning of what we observed in the Rainforest. His narration about Lake Crescent, the wildlife in the area and his hiking experiences was enjoyable. Our trip included a visit to Rialto Beach, which was also a highlight. The Rainforest itself was incredible and an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this tour.

A beautiful day immersed in nature - A delightful & informative trip! Our guide, Daniel had immense knowledge of the area. He provided us with facts and history as we drove to our destination. We made two hikes in the Hoh Rain Forest, learning about the various trees and plant life. A beautiful place to be hugged by nature. At the Rialto Beach we had time to explore on our own. We were a small group and enjoyed the day with the other people also. I highly recommend this tour!

Two distinctive marvels of nature in a single day - We were able to see some key sites in the national park while letting a professional not only drive us around, but explain the sites, flora and fauna in detail. Our guide, Oscar, was very accommodating and we had a great day. There was quite a bit of driving time, but it’s a big park to visit!

An Experience! - Ben did really good job. He kept us on our time table and still had enough time at each spot. The Hoh Rain Forest was a highlight for my trip to Washington. The company was great and had things very well organized.
The van is a little squishy.
Ben showed us many small animals, insects and trees and identified birds for us. The picture is a root of a fir tree that was tipped over but still growing new trees out of the roots. Amazing
