• Forli - Rust-printing is a typical artisan technique of Emlia-Romagna region, it is a must see! You will be hosted by our local artisan shop to experience Handmade Rust Printing, our artisan will welcome you in her atelier-shop where she will show you how to create the wooden stamps, how to make the design, create the colour, last but not least, how to fix it.

You will do your own print, using the wooden blocks, you design your own, so your deisgn will be unique!

The cloth with your deisgn will be availble after the colour is fixed, which will take up to 24-36 hours and then you can request to be sent it to you.

Children can participate, they should be accompanied by an adult.

Explore the local tradition of handmade “rust printing” on textiles. This workshop, situated in the historic center of Forlì, features skilled artisans who carve intricate designs onto pear wood blocks to create printing stamps. These wooden blocks are then immersed in printing dyes, resulting in a wash-resistant print. The designs include traditional symbols from Emilia Romagna’s rural heritage, such as the rooster, the “caveja” (a traditional wrought iron pivot with allegorical decorations used to secure yokes), wheat spikes, or grapes, as well as unique floral or decorative patterns crafted by the workshop itself.
