We really enjoyed our... - We really enjoyed our walk with our guide Cliff! He was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the area’s wildlife and local plants as well as New Zealand and the region. The walk was not difficult and our guide stopped regularly to allow for photos and questions so it felt well paced. We drank a nice cup of hot chocolate at the top of the hike while enjoying the beautiful view of the glacier. It can get wet so definitely bring waterproof clothes. The guide did have umbrellas if you don’t have one. Definitely recommend!

A wonderful way to spend 3 or so hours in the grest outdoors - From being picked up at our hotel to being dropped off, 3 or so hrs later, outside the pub ( our request!), we were superbly well guided, informed and entertained by Cliff . Such a fascinating walk up to the glacier viewpoints through some dense rainforest, instructed by Cliff on the history and movement of the glacier as well as the vegetation along the way. A lovely touch was the hot drink and biscuits at the last glacier viewpoint: delicious. We would heartily recommend this walk to anyone with an interest in forests, birdlife, glaciers or just being outdoors exploring nature. Thanks to Cliff for his knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to chat 😉

Lovely Informative Hike - Even though it was raining and we ultimately couldn’t quite see the glacier, our guide Jake kept the energy up and was fun, informative and adventurous! It was a small group and everyone was really friendly. We sat for coffee and hot chocolate in the river bed and it was very serene. Jake even fished out a piece of glacial ice from the river for us to hold!

A great experience, added so much - As entry to the Fox Glacier walk is free I originally thought I’d do that, but this nature tour was really great and well worth it - I’m so glad I did it. A shout out to Tyler who was a knowledgeable and kind guide. I learnt loads about trees, geology, and of course glaciers and Fox in particular - really interesting, highly recommend.

Ecco Tours to Fox and Franz Joseph - I did two tours with Petra; one to Fox and the other to Franz Joseph. She was a great guide - very knowledgeable, helpful and an overall fun person to have as a tour guide. Strongly recommend.

Great Hike With A Very Good Guide - I chose this tour primarily for the transport from Franz Josef, normally I would not need a guide for a hike. I was so wrong, our guide, Jake, provided so much more. The two big pluses in having him as a guide was his very informative commentary on the rain forest trees, etc, and then guiding us to walk along the river bed. The first part of the walk is a cycle track, very easy underfoot and only small elevation gains. The return along the river bed is rocky, made easier with good hiking shoes/boots and poles. Poles are not necessary but useful. A very short, steep, slippery hike is needed to get from the river bed back to the track. For those who do not feel confident doing the river bed, there is an option to walk back the way we came. Tea, coffee, biscuits were provided. Limited glacier views, but still very worth doing. We did this in the early afternoon. The cloud had already come in so views were not as good as they might have been. I was in the Fox / Franz area for 3 days, on every day the mornings were glorious but cloud cover was total by mid day so, if you can, most hikes should be one early morning.
