Over the next five months, five more apparitions were recorded, with the final one on October 13, witnessed by approximately 70,000 people. As requested by Our Lady, a chapel was constructed in her honor at the site of the apparitions, known as the Chapel of Apparitions. Since 1917, the shrine has attracted thousands of pilgrims from around the globe. In May 2017, Pope Francis visited the sanctuary to mark the centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady.
