It was fantastic! A really fun day with a lovely pacing and kind thoughtful guides. - This cultural lakeside walk near Mount Fuji was such a highlight of my trip. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic — so fun, knowledgeable, and genuinely lovely to spend the day with. Getting outside of Tokyo was an absolute treat, and the area around the lake was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. We got to try lots of different delicious sakes and sample traditional Japanese snacks, which was such a fun way to experience local culture. One of my favorite parts was the craft activity — we created a traditional indigo dye piece (a resist-style printing technique where you paint a white paste first and then layer blue indigo over it). It was hands-on, relaxing, and really special to make something ourselves. The food was amazing throughout the day. We made noodles and enjoyed a delicious hot pot–style noodle meal, then later tried other traditional noodles at a stunning old Japanese inn–style restaurant, where the food was served in these dramatic, boiling hot cauldrons. It felt so authentic and memorable. We also visited a beautiful shrine, which perfectly rounded out the experience. Overall, this tour was the perfect mix of nature, culture, food, and hands-on experiences. I couldn’t recommend it more — such a wonderful way to experience Japan beyond the city.
