• Mount Fuji - Experience stunning panoramic views of Mount Fuji at various locations throughout the day, along with many delightful surprises.
• Hakone Turnpike Daikanyama Parking Lot - The journey begins on one of the most picturesque roads in the Fuji/Hakone region. This road offers numerous scenic views, and from the top observatory, there is a breathtaking view of the entire valley, Hakone, and Fuji. Even on rainy days, the fog and greenery create an incredible atmosphere. This private, well-maintained road is ideal for driving.
• Lake Ashinoko - Next, we will visit Lake Ashi, stopping at several renowned Torii Gates (traditional Japanese gates typically found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine) and Shrines.
• Hakone Shrine - Located on the shores of Lake Ashi, the Hakone Shrine is a Japanese Shinto shrine established in 757. It features a Torii (red gate), multiple shrines and buildings, souvenir shops, and a museum. It is one of the most beautiful shrines in the area, nestled in nature.
• Tenzan Tohji-kyo - After exploring the highway, scenic road, shrine, and lake, it’s time to eat and relax. We will leisurely head to some of the most exquisite onsens in Kanto (with several options depending on your mood and preferences). Here, you can enjoy local specialties, unwind in the thermal waters, and even indulge in a massage. Napping by the water in the relaxation room is also possible and recommended.
• Lake Ashinoko Sky Line - After lunch, if time allows, we will travel along another iconic road in the Fuji/Hakone region. This route offers an even closer view of Fuji, Lake Ashinoko, and even the sea! There are four breathtaking panoramas along the road, and we will stop at each one.
• The Hakone Open-Air Museum - Following lunch and relaxation at the onsen, we will head to the open-air museum. It features collections of artworks by Picasso, Henry Moore, Taro Okamoto, Yasuo Mizui, Churyo Sato, Susumu Shingū, and many others, with over a thousand sculptures displayed within 70,000 square meters of lush garden. It is both captivating and soothing for adults and children alike.
• Pola Museum of Art - If the weather is unfavorable, or if time permits and you are interested in both, we will visit the Pola Museum, which is indoors. Nestled in a forest of beech trees and hidden in the wooded mountains of Hakone, the award-winning modern architecture beautifully contrasts and harmonizes with the surrounding nature. The museum showcases a world-class collection of Western and Japanese paintings, ceramics, and cosmetic utensils, with a focus on impressionist paintings.
