Great tour in the Mt. Aso region - Our guide Ella was excellent. I booked an English tour, which this was, but it was also the Chinese tour and as that is my long ago second language I felt I received an unexpected added bonus. The sites were very interesting and Ella did a nice job with the introductions. At 71 with very large feet and a high center of gravity I did not feel comfortable with all the narrow uneven steps. But that was fine, I skipped some walks but there was still plenty to do, see and learn. It was a very positive, hen hao, adventure which l would recommend. Our driver was also very skilled and conservative—I think he had the hardest job.

Helen's tour is great - Helen is a lovely tour guide! She made the day fun and informative, and very organized. I love the cave and gorge the most, but these are all three great sites to see for a day trip.

Shrines, Stones, and Stunning Views - It was a great tour, especially considering it was for a large group. Thomas made everything run smoothly and kept the day well organized and enjoyable for everyone. He took us to Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine, then to Amanoiwato Shrine, where the many stacked stones and mystical surroundings felt like the inspiration for scenes from Princess Mononoke. We ended the tour at Takachiho Gorge, where we were able to see Manai Falls, a gorgeous and unforgettable view.

Had a good time with... - Had a good time with Thomas. He was very energetic and careful with the time and traffic conditions. Honestly there’s not much to do in Fukuoka so you might as well go on this trip if you have more than three days, especially if you love anime

Truly experience Japan's country sights - The tour was an absolute highlight of my trip! Thomas was well organised, friendly, knowledgeable and was truly passionate about giving us the best tour. He gave us so many tips and went in depth with explaining the history of the sights. I'd highly recommend anyone visiting Fukuoka to venture further south into rural Japan and this tour is one of the best way to do it!

Long day, great scenic off the beaten path experience, prepare for walking! - The sightseeing stops on this all day tour were what we were hoping for and more. Winding into the thickly forested mountains and visiting Shinto shrines and the gorge combined natural beauty and traditional culture. Rain and mist made it atmospheric. Note that the two shrines visited are both IN the forest and have many many old stone steps - beautiful and a bit challenging. This was a very comfortable bus tour with nice touches like thoughtful extra stops for rest rooms/snacks, and some umbrellas for those without them. However we were not prepared that the actual tour operator, Gogoday Travel, is a Chinese company offering multiple tours, and most of the passengers were Chinese. The meeting spot was a mob scene and very disorganized. We almost missed our 8am bus - we should have planned to arrive 30 minutes ahead of schedule. Our bilingual tour guide Leena was charming, well-organized and kind and spoke English well, but her heavy accent made her narrated explanations extremely hard to understand.

The journey takes longer than the sites - You spend 5 hours on a bus- getting there and returning. The sites are gorgeous but mobbed so you walk through in a line and leave. No time to linger or enjoy. The guide talked rubbish.
