Funchal Yellow HOHO 3 in 1 - We purchased the Yellow HOHO 3 in 1 Service. Reasonably accessible from the cruise terminal and we were in fact dropped off outside at the end of the trip. In hindsight we did not have time to cover the two main routes having stopped off to take the cable car (there is a stop right next to this). The yellow buses were regular and would quite often stop to enable a photo at a picture point.

The 5 day ticket option was a no brainer - We chose the yellow (local) bus over the well known red bus. The yellow bus has a 5 day option for less than 5 euros extra (on top of the the 48 hour ticket price). This also included a 2nd line which takes you to the glass bottomed viewpoint (5 euro entrance fee - worth it) . We were in Madeira for 7 nights - its very hilly, so we used the bus to get us to various locations, if we did not want to climb the steep hills in the heat. The drivers were very freindly and the buses quite frequent. Be aware that delays can happen when traffic is busy or in our case there was an accident, the bus could not access the road we were on but waited longer at another waiting place. The roads can be narrow and winding. We also got 10 % of so paid 44 euros for 2 people for 5 days.

An Easy and Enjoyable Way to Discover Madeira - The Hop-On Hop-Off Tour was a very good way to get a first impression of the island. We travelled from Funchal to Câmara de Lobos, Pico dos Barcelos and Cabo Girão. It was a comfortable and practical way to see some of the most important sights in a short time. The bus operates from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It would have been even better if it also ran in the evening, for example until midnight. The buses arrived every 30 minutes, which made it easy to plan our stops. The staff was very friendly, helpful and well organised. Overall, it was a great experience and a convenient way to explore the island.

Go when the cruise liners aren't in. - The cruise ships were in town, so the bus had been there 1st and it was nearly full. The 2rd part of the trip to the viewing platform is worth it, it costs 5€ to get on the platform.

Great routes, ideal way to see & experience the sights - Great way to see the beautiful sights of the island. Immense views. Time in cute, historic Camera de Lobos too which is why hop on/off is so good. Wish the schedule was available online. This has been unavailable since December and really needs to be reinstated. Also had difficulty find the stops as interactive map not working. Lovely way to spend a day. No end to see and do.

Hop On Hop Off five day pass Funchal - The buses are comfortable and the drivers were extremely helpful when my husband left his backpack on a bus! The timetables provided by the company are not very reliable though.

The first day of our 3 in... - The first day of our 3 in 1 tour we had to wait over an hour after we hopped off the bus at the farmer’s market. It was a long wait in a tight location. Once on the bus we enjoyed the audio narrative.
