2025-07-19 Moody Mansion Review! - The mansion interior is well preserved and looks very welcoming. Very cozy. Its a great look-back at the times one lived in and gives perspective on what its is like to be born and raised in such a blessed environment.

Love the All-access tour!! - We went on the all-access tour, which is a two-hour guided tour. It was amazing! It was worth every penny. The guide had a ton of amazing stories about the house that you don't hear on the regular tour. I highly recommend it for adults and older kids. Little ones would get bored. If you love history, do this tour; you won't be sorry!

The audio tour makes it worthwhile - If you'd like to take a peek into the life of a guided age family in Texas then this is it! The audio tour is a great addition to this charming home filled with the actual furniture the family used at the turn of last century.

Thoughtful tour, but historically incomplete. - The Moody Mansion offers a beautiful glimpse into Galveston’s upper-class life, but the tour misses a crucial part of the story: there is no mention of slavery or the labor systems that built the wealth of families like the Moodys. Colonel Moody’s Confederate service is noted, but without context—Galveston was a major slave port before the Civil War, and the city’s economy was deeply intertwined with enslaved labor. Ignoring that part of the history presents a sanitized version of the past. I hope the site will consider incorporating more accurate and inclusive narratives in the future. Telling the full story—especially the difficult parts—is what makes historic preservation truly meaningful.

So cool… wanted more! - This mansion is a must see! We learned so many great things about the family and the history of the family. Loved how the mansion has been kept and restored. It really felt like you stepped back in time 100 years. The only thing that would have made this 5 stars for us would have been to see the third floor and how it was set up back then.

Waste of money - Kinda expensive to do 15 minutes of looking. There is no one to show you the house or history it’s go at your own pace and scan a code to play an audio. 3rd floor was off limits and basement was a kids activity place that was off limits. Definitely wouldn’t go there again.
