Exceptional! Must do to see Aran Island & Cliffs of Moher from sea & land. PAVEL was GREAT tour guide! - My husband and I, along with a (seasick-prone) friend did this 10-hr tour as part of my husband and my 9-country summer Euro trip. I had a wish to set foot on an Aran Island, as well as see the Cliffs of Moher from the water. We completely hit the weather lottery on our tour day the 3rd wk of August with a full-on sunny day with glassy calm water going Galway to Inisheer and back. Zero issues with seasickness - it was literally perfect weather. Note, if it is seriously raining this trip would not be so fun, so do watch the weather and consider how it will be. The tour company offers a 24-hr cancellation window and other tour alternatives. The meet-up spot is right off the Galway town square, very easy to walk to if you're staying nearby. There are several tour operators, so ask the drivers to confirm which bus you're on. These are big coaches, but fairly tight leg room. You drive through beautiful countryside with narration to the ferry spot in Doolin, about 90-minutes. There are restrooms at Doolin, but very long lines for women. The mens room had no line and does use multiple doored stalls, so my friend and I used it with zero issues or concerns from other men, and other women followed our lead. You board the 11am ferry and are on Inisheer island by about 11:30am. The ferry ride over was incredibly beautiful, calm, and fast. The filled the ferry and we were directed to seats on the bottom (there is also a back upper deck that was full). I was bummed about this until I realized the people on the bottom can walk outside the front of the ferry on either side to stand in the front of the boat to see things and take pics. There isn't a lot of room, but there were probably 10-15 people out there during our passing and it was fun to stand there, although windy - consider a tight-fitting hat or put your hair up. We were given 2hrs on the island and told to meet back to board our ferry at the same spot. From the Inisheer pier you can walk, bike, take a horse carriage or a 45-min minibus tour. We opted for the 15 Euro pp minibus tour (reviewed separately), which is the most efficient way to see the key spots of the Island, including the plane wreck, castle, and learn about the island and its history and people. Our driver lives on Inisheer and has for most/all of his life, and knew a lot of facts about this small island. Most importantly he knows all the other drivers on the island and how to manage the roads! Note if you rent bikes (ebikes are available too) that the roads are so narrow that you will have to stop and press yourself against a stone wall at times (of which there are many) to allow the minibuses and carriages through. It looked like a challenging ride, but if you have enough time, it could be fun. After being dropped back by the pier we saw our driver, who guided us to the bar/restaurant right right there for lunch. The restaurant can fit a lot of people both inside and out, has paninis, fish & chips, beers, etc. We enjoyed it very much. They have restrooms there also. After that you can walk to the beach, right by the pier, and I really enjoyed that. We also stopped at the shop immediately between the pier and restaurant, which was well stocked with Aran-made wools, jewelry, and other keepsakes. I bought a necklace. So, we fit a lot into those 2 hrs. We did get in line for the ferry early - my friend held a spot about #5 in line. This is important because if you're first on you can secure a spot on the back upper deck for viewing the Cliffs. Take a perimeter seat on either side. We then took a lengthy ferry back to see the Cliffs from the water. The boat gets quite close and there are many photo opps. I took about 100 pics easily. We saw dolphins jumping in the wake of the boat, which was a wonderful surprise. This part of the tour was approx 1hr. We were then bused to the visitor's center at the Cliffs of Moher. We only had 1 hr at this stop, but it was enough to walk to several cool sights to see the Cliffs from above and get photos, use the restroom, shop in the visitor's center, and also catch the continuous running 7-min "4D" show. The visitor's center is nothing too interesting - they tout a 4D show, but it was not that great tbh. But they have restrooms and a nice shop where I bought some earrings that were very reasonably priced. From there we did the 2-2.5hr bus ride back to Galway, but also stopped 1-2 times to see a couple of sights. We arrived back by 6:30pm near the pick up spot in the center of Galway. This was a very long day trip, but so well worth it due to the quality of the tour, how much you can see, and the once in a lifetime opp to set foot on an Aran Island and to see the Cliffs from both sea and land. We were blessed with one of the best weather days of our trip, which was amazing. It would still be worth it if cloudy and intermittently raining, but I might reconsider if it was raining a ton. A massive shout-out to our tour guide, PAVEL, who was EXCEPTIONAL! He drove the bus, narrated the tour, gave recs for things to do and restaurants, and was quite funny, personable, and professional. Really one of the best tour guides we had in over a month of travel. I had no cash or I would have tipped him, so I'm writing as glowing a review as possible, because he deserves it. 5-stars ***** (pics attached in no particular order)

Great combo tour - We enjoyed all the elements of this tour and appreciated how Alan helped us get the most out of our various destinations. It was a full day, including Alan’s narrated bus ride to the ferry, a horse cart tour on the island, the view of the cliffs from the boat, and walking around the Cliffs of Moher. Gorgeous scenery with several chances to get out and walk or bike. Well worth it if you’re in the Galway area for a few days.

I would recommend you... - I would recommend you arrive on time if not about ten minutes earlier than the designated time of 8:45 am since they typically do start the tour early (we departed and were already on our way out of Galway city by 8:50 am). The drive to Doolin is about an 1.5-2 hours, featuring the iconic landscape of the Burren, located south of Galway Bay. The ferry to Inisheer was a little rough (expect some waves and wind along the way). We rented bikes on the island and I would definitely recommend it! The drive was scenic and getting around the island was much easier than would have been if we were walking. Note that your time on the island will go by quick so make sure to keep track of the time and arrive to the ferry early to make it to the Cliffs of Moher. Make sure to bring some sort of wind breaker jacket to combat the strong winds encountered at sea. One of the most memorable moments of the trip, though, was the actual Cliffs of Moher National Park. The view of the Cliffs was absolutely breathtaking and the sinking sun only added to the beauty. Our driver Gerry was very experienced and also very funny, telling a few jokes and even singing songs to lighten the mood.

Incredible landscape, easy ride, great narration - Our driver, Alan, did a wonderful job of giving us high quality information without the hoaky jokes typical of many tours. He was also present and helpful at each of the locations and seemed to have a sixth sense about which of us were in his tour group so that he could give us good information on location, in real time. So helpful!! The ferry ride to the island was so fun and the ride back, under the cliffs was awe inspiring. It was probably the best visual experience of the whole tour. (Tip: get back to the ferry early so you can get a seat up top.). The island of Inisheer was delightful. We rode bikes and had a good experience. The road to the castle is not well marked so make sure you ask a local. The bus ride from the ferry to the cliff top was quick and pleasant. From the top, the cliffs of Moher are equally breathtaking. It was a really good day for kids and adults alike!

Awesome day in Inisheer and the Cliffs of Moher with Jerry ! - We did the Cliffs of Moher + Aran Islands Day Tour with Jerry on October 29th 2024. Even though the weather wasn't great (very foggy and misty), we had a really nice time in Jerry’s company. He's a very sweet person, giving us tips and bits of information every step of the way, interspersed with jokes and a capella singing. Really nice to see the Cliffs of Moher from the ocean and then again from the top. Our 2 hours in Inisheer were also really great. The island is beautiful to visit whether by cycling, pony & trap or walking (which we did). Thank you Jerrry and Wild Atlantic Way Day Tours !

Disappointed by Cliffs of Moher boat tour. - We were so lucky to have a beautiful, warm shiny day to have our boat tour, but I was quite disappointed with how the boat was “packed to the gills”, so there was very little room to move about and take photos, unless you were lucky enough to get a seat close to the edge. To make it even worse, those on the edge stood up and mostly chatted, blocking the views of those of us in the middle. This could have been rectified by the crew announcing those on the edge would switch with anyone interested in taking photos at a certain point in the trip. I would not go with this company again.

The Windy, Wild Atlantic - Wild Atlantic certainly summarizes our experience at the Cliffs of Moher tour. We were unsure if we would be able to do the boat portion of the experience due to the weather, but we were not given an option to not go on the boat given the conditions with a full refund or another optional activity. Two members of our party got seasick to the point where they could not enjoy the island and several others on the ferry were sick as well. In fact, the conditions were so perilous that the section of the tour involving viewing the Cliffs by boat was entirely canceled with no refund for that portion of the experience. There were no directions in regards to parking, and you must park in a garage, not on the street, to accommodate the time needed for the tour. The guides were great, and our experience on the Cliffs of Moher, while a little windy, was amazing. However, the decision-making of the tour company/ferry regarding safety considering the conditions was lacking. Overall, the amount of time was appropriate, and we had a good time considering the conditions.

- We had a bad experience. We drove all the way from Belfast to join a tour group at 9:00. We were at the bus station at 9:05 and the busses already left. We tried to call, send an email and mesaaged that we were 5min late and nobody answerd or replied. We were simply told that we could not reschedule or get a refund. Highly dissapointing, if we could have reached someone we would of atleast rescheduled or git some money back.

Unacceptable Behaviour from Driver and Company - Driver Phil Davenport was physically and verbally aggressive towards a woman (an immigrant, unsurprisingly). When the incident was reported, Damien from the company failed to take any action. I was seated close to the driver and, from time to time, quietly translating what he was saying to my mother, who does not speak English. Without warning, he turned to me, slapped my leg, and shouted at me to stop talking. I immediately apologised, saying, “I’m sorry, I was just translating for my mum,” to which he aggressively responded — through the microphone, so that everyone on the bus could hear — “I don’t care. Don’t talk when I’m speaking. If you want, get off the bus and take a service bus.” His behaviour was completely rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. If he felt disturbed, he could have simply asked politely and I would have stopped immediately. There was absolutely no justification for humiliating me in front of all the passengers, and certainly not for laying a hand on me. This was a clear act of physical aggression and public humiliation, and it is entirely unacceptable. Someone who behaves this way should not be working with the public, and no company should tolerate or excuse this kind of conduct.
