Gangtok is another charming destination. The Enchey and Rumtek monasteries are among the most significant in Gangtok. Enchey is located approximately 3 km from Gangtok and is a historic monastery believed to have been built 200 years ago, serving as an important seat of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. In contrast, Rumtek Monastery, slightly older than Enchey, is open to all Buddhists and houses relics of the 16th Karmapa.
Other attractions include the Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Chorten, and the Orchid Sanctuary.
