- Garni Temple - Perched on a triangular cape, Garni Temple stands as the sole surviving example of pagan culture in Armenia, showcasing a fusion of Greco-Roman and Armenian architectural styles. Commissioned by King Trdat The First in the first century AD, it was dedicated to the Sun God. Following the adoption of Christianity in 301, the temple’s significance waned, and the Garni fortress became the summer residence for the kings. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of the royal palace and a bathhouse adorned with stunning mosaics near the temple.
- The Monastery of Geghard - The Geghard Monastery is an unparalleled masterpiece of 13th-century Armenian architecture. Some of its churches are intricately carved into a massive rock. Initially known as Ayrivank (cave monastery), it was later renamed Geghard (lance) because the lance used by a Roman soldier to pierce Jesus Christ’s side was kept here for centuries. Geghardavank’s construction makes it an ideal venue for singing spiritual hymns. The complex is adorned with delicate sculptural decorations and numerous impressive khachkars (cross-stones). It is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
- Lake Sevan - Lake Sevan, often referred to as the “pearl” of mountainous Armenia, is one of the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes, situated about 1900 meters above sea level. Of volcanic origin, it is encircled by mountains reaching 3000 meters and higher. The breathtaking landscape and crystal-clear waters provide perfect conditions for a relaxing retreat. The lake is also renowned for its peninsula and the medieval church complex built in 874.
- Monastery Sevanavank - A breathtaking view unfolds in the northwestern part of Lake Sevan, where the peninsula rises above the lake’s clear surface. The Sevanavank Monastery was constructed on the peninsula in 874 by the order of Princess Mariam, daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni. The silhouette of the churches against the turquoise lake and blue sky leaves an indescribable impression on visitors.
