- Garni Temple - Constructed in the latter half of the 1st century by King Trdat III, the Garni Temple is the sole pagan temple preserved in Armenia. Following the adoption of Christianity, it served as the summer residence for Khosrovadukht, the sister of King Trdat III. An earthquake in 1679 led to its destruction, scattering fragments of its elegant columns and wall stones. It is believed that the temple was dedicated to Mithra, the Sun God. The Garni Temple is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Charent’s Arch - Situated near Yerevan, between the Garni Temple and the Geghard Monastery complex in Vokhchaberd village, Charents Arch may initially appear ordinary. However, upon approaching and standing on the platform inside the arch, the breathtaking view of the majestic and sacred Mount Ararat becomes apparent, offering a perfect spot to connect with nature and enjoy the stunning landscape.
- The Monastery of Geghard - The Geghard Monastery stands as one of Armenia’s most remarkable medieval architectural achievements. Entirely carved out of a cave, it is often referred to as a “cave monastery.” Established in the 4th century AD at the site of a sacred spring, the monastery’s name, Geghard (meaning spear), is derived from the spear of Longinus, which pierced Jesus Christ’s body on the cross. This spear is currently housed in the Etchmiadzin museum. The Geghard Monastery is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Garni Gorge - Located in the Kotayk province near the village of Garni, the Garni Gorge is home to one of Armenia’s most renowned and stunning natural wonders, the Symphony of Stones. This natural monument, formed by the collapse of volcanic rocks, features massive, symmetrically arranged hexagonal and pentagonal basalt columns, some reaching nearly 50 meters in height. These stones, defying gravity, resemble an organ, earning the nickname “Basalt Organ Pipes.” The Azat River flows through the gorge, enhancing the enchanting beauty of the stones with its gentle murmur. Visitors can also access the Khosrov Forest State Reserve from the monument, exploring one of Armenia’s specially protected areas.
