- Elkmont Campground - Participants will receive practical guidance from a seasoned fly fishing guide. All necessary equipment, including waders, boots, rods, reels, and flies, is provided. The guide will support participants in every aspect of the trip, from choosing the fishing site to mastering casting techniques and safely landing and releasing fish.
Participants will accompany the guide from Gatlinburg into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While many excursions target the pristine waters of the Little River in Elkmont, the final destination will be tailored to the participants’ fishing preferences (such as the type of trout desired or the amount of hiking preferred to reach the fishing spot) and the current water conditions.
Meeting and fishing locations are personalized based on your accommodation and the prevailing weather conditions. The guide will contact you prior to the trip to discuss gear sizing and confirm a meeting point. A phone number is required at registration.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers some of the finest trout fishing opportunities in the Southeast. Whether new to the sport or an experienced fly fisher, Smoky Mountain Guides can lead you to the park’s prime fishing locations.
After booking, a guide will reach out to coordinate the specifics of your adventure. Together, a four-hour fishing excursion will be tailored to your preferences, whether you favor rainbow, brown, or brook trout, and your hiking interests.
SMG supplies all necessary fishing equipment, including rods, flies, line, waders, and boots. Participants are required to bring a valid fishing license from either Tennessee or North Carolina, as well as a Great Smoky Mountains parking pass.
- GSMNP Parking Pass Required- A parking pass from GSMNP is required for this activity. Details about the parking pass including online purchases can be found at https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/fees.htm. Consult the National Park Service website for details. Parking pass prices currently start at $5 but some guests may qualify for a free pass or be exempt from the parking pass requirement.
- TN or NC Fishing License Required - A Tennessee Fishing License can be bought here. This license can be purchased the same day as your fishing trip and can be displayed digitally on your phone as a screenshot. TWRA offers a basic fishing license, which is sufficient for this guided activity, as well as supplements for trout fishing. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park does not require a licensing supplement for trout fishing within the national park, though this may be needed if you intend to use your fishing license outside the national park before or after your tour. Consult the TWRA for other restrictions associated with your fishing license. https://gooutdoorstennessee.com/
