Trek 1: North Andros. Froussei Valley Distance 15 km.
Trek 2: North West Andros. St. Peter’s Tower - Agia Monastery - Batsi. Distance 10km
Batsi - Begin your trekking adventure from Gavrio Town. Before reaching the village of the same name, you will pass by the Agios Petros (St. Peter) Tower, dating back to the Hellenistic period (4th-3rd century BC), and one of the best-preserved in the Cyclades. After exploring the charming village, the trail continues westward to the Monastery of “Agia,” which is well worth a visit. From there, a pleasant descent trail leads you to the beautiful seaside town of Batsi, known for its picturesque round bay and clear waters.
Trek 3: West to Central Andros. The Venetian Trail and the verdant village of Menites Distance 16km
Menites - Enjoy a hearty breakfast and prepare for a challenging day of walking. Your trek begins at your hotel, following one of the island’s oldest and longest routes. Known as “Fardia Strada” from the Venetian era, the trail will guide you to Pitrofos Village, offering splendid sea views as you cross the mountain to reach Menites Village. This long trail with challenging elevations combines four routes of the network, showcasing an extremely varied landscape and terrain!
Trek 4: Central to South Andros. Panachrados Monastery and Korthi Bay. Distance 12 km
Ormos Korthiou - This trek combines two different routes of the Andros Routes hiking network and a section of the Andros Trail Race trail. It will lead you to Panachrados Monastery, situated on the Gerakonas mountain range at 550 m. The trail will take you to the other side of the mountain, heading south to the picturesque villages of the Korthi area. Enjoy a rich agricultural landscape and splendid sea views as you reach the seaside town.
Trek 5: South to North East Andros. Andros Town Hora, the capital. Distance 12 km
Andros Town - This is one of the most popular routes in the network, featuring abundant agricultural landscapes. It was the old road leading to Hora, connecting the island’s two medieval castles, serving as the central agricultural and commercial artery for southeastern Andros until 1950. The Upper Castle, the gorge of Dipotamata with its stone watermills, the arched bridge, and the village of Sineti are some of the highlights you will encounter on your journey.
Trek 6: North East Andros. The seamen’s villages and Pythara small waterfalls. Distance 8km
Trek 7: North East to Central West Andros. The summit and the forested Arni. Distance 11 km
Arni - This majestic route takes you from the northeast and Apoikia village through the rural and mountainous Vourkoti settlement to the lush valley of Arni, the greenest area of the island. Walking along the ridge of Andros’ highest point, Kouvara, you will experience breathtaking views and a uniquely diverse landscape.
Trek 8: Central to West Andros. The picturesque Batsi Bay. Distance 11km
Batsi - Descend from Andros’ highest mountain and the verdant valley of Arni towards the cosmopolitan town of Batsi. This is one of the greenest hiking routes on the island, featuring significant biodiversity. It will lead you to the sea through dense vegetation, offering splendid views of both the mountain and the sea.
