A Must Go To Event - A most informative and enjoyable visit. The admission fee being excellent value for money, with a happy atmosphere. The host and hostess both being excellent. A Birmingham event not to be missed.

It was bostin’! - The tour was amazing and great value! Well paced, the guides provided lots of entertaining facts, anecdotes and information about the Council House building itself and its function, as well as explaining some of the history of the city of Birmingham which was very informative and interesting. We got to see parts of the building not normally open to the general public, and to see historical items not normally on display. We were able to ask any questions along the way, and could take photos throughout. The 1.5hr tour time was perfect, allowing you time to take it all in without rushing. The tour hosts, Jonathan and Jemma, were friendly and welcoming. Jonathan has an exceptional knowledge of the city and the building, and enthusiastically shared this in a very accessible and enjoyable way! It was easy to book online, and great value! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and will look at doing some of the others that Positively Birmingham Walking Tours offer.

Do the tour whilst it's available! - We've done tours with Jonathan Berg before and find him knowledgable and amusing. The visit into the City Hall (Council House) is a new one and may or may not continue into the future depending on local politicians. As many city halls from the Victorian era it's grand inside and outside. Having a guided tour gave us a lot of information we wouldn't otherwise have had, and also access to areas normally closed to the public. We're glad we did this tour, Jonathan was his usual knowledgable and friendly self. We've enjoyed all of Jonathan's tours.

Always look up - Fantastic tour of The Council House. Loads of information of what happens in the different rooms and chambers. The photos of all the Mayors, Lord Mayors of Birmingham. Also being able to sit in chambers. There's even a placqe of fame, listing people who were either born or proud of Birmingham including the late Ozzy Osborne.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly engaging tour with rare access to the Council House - Such a fascinating tour! Having never set foot inside Birmingham’s Council House it really was exciting to get rare access, including the Council Chamber, the Lord Mayor’s Chambers, and other behind the scenes spaces, there's even a WW2 mortuary (no longer a mortuary if course!! ) Before going inside we were primed with lots of interesting context about the outside too. Jonathan is super knowledgeable and super enthusiastic, bringing the building’s history and stories to life in a really engaging way. "It's not just about the building, it's about what's gone inside and the people " he reminds us during the tour. There's never a dull moment with his delivery 👌 It’s extremely valuable to have someone as experienced and passionate as Jonathan leading the tour, as I'm a big fan of his work and reader of his books about Brum. One particularly memorable moment was watching another tourist try on the Lord Mayor’s robes and tricorne hat within the chambers - and sit at the historic desk of Joseph Chamberlain — it caused quite a bit of hilarity and added a really fun, human touch to the tour. Even as someone familiar with Birmingham’s history, I learned A LOT from the experience. Highly recommend for both visitors and locals wanting a deeper connection with the city’s heritage.

Wrekin Arts Society Visit - What an experience, seeing how the council operates, with visits to areas not normally open to the public. The architecture, decorations and atmosphere gave an insight into the workings of the council. This visit was augmented by Jonathan with help from Jemma by giving historial facts and antidotes about the founding fathers of Birmingham. The tour is recommended to people with an interest in the social and historical aspects of Birmingham

Another first class tour with Jonathan Berg and Positively Birmingham - We highly recommend this 'new' tour of the Council House. It was great to have an opportunity to see behind the scenes and learn about the history of the building and democracy in the city with an expert guide - Jonathan ably assisted by Jemma. The Council Chamber is impressive with its imposing architecture and decorative embellishment. The visit to the Lord Mayor's study was an unexpected honour. Some interesting sculpture and art work was seen on the tour too. Jonathan was informative and entertaining as ever - 2 hours soon flew by. His latest book on Birmingham - A Drone's Eye View is superb - we highly recommend that too.
