Travel back 400 million years into Scotland’s rich geological history with this full-day Old Red Sandstone (ORS) GeoTour. This field-focused adventure takes you through some of the most remarkable Devonian exposures along the east coast.

Participants will discover various ORS environments along the Mearns and Angus coastline, including braided river systems, temporary lakes, desert floodplain deposits, and striking coastal cliffs formed by early volcanic activity.

Following lunch in Montrose, the tour proceeds to Boddin Point, where ancient volcanic eruptions and Scotland’s historic lime kiln heritage create one of the region’s most fascinating geological sites. The day wraps up at Auchmithie, which boasts some of the most breathtaking ORS cliffs in Scotland.
