Excellent Dining Experience - Eon and Jessica were excellent hosts. We enjoyed a delicious dish of pepper pot, Dahl and roti. Jessica gives the history of some of the fruits grown in Guyana. Eon felt like a member of our family. He shared his joy of cooking. We enjoyed watching him play the guitar and he has an amazing singing voice.

Delightful! - I am stealing another reviewer's description of the Singing Chef experience, "enchanting". That sums up our experience as well. From the minute you are greeted at the mysterious gate by Jessica, who is an absolute delight, the rest of the evening is magic -- there is the intimate garden seating area lit by twinkling lights, the amazing food cooked by the Singing Chef, the extraordinary conversation with Jessica and Eon (the Singing Chef) throughout the meal, capped off by an acoustic performance by the Singing Chef himself. This is a unique experience you will not soon forget and well worth the price!

A Secret No More - In Georgetown, Guyana, we stepped into what might be the most delightful “Secret Garden” this side of Eden. This was a chef’s table experience as we were the only guests for the evening. The food? Perfection. The vibe? Pure magic. Our culinary journey began with a roasted pumpkin soup flavorful but subtle, with banana flowers, garlic, corilla caviar and a flirt of freshly ground black pepper. Then came the main event: pan-grilled trout beneath a rich hollandaise with capers and just a soupçon (look it up) of paprika. On the side: garlic-fried bora and a breadfruit fritter that came from the tree hanging above our heads. Talk about farm-to-table, or rather, tree-to-plate! This course came with sun ripened organic tomatoes with red onion and layered Guyanese basil, balsamic vinegar and virgin coconut oil dressing. Then… dessert. Oh, the dessert. A warm spiced pudding cake draped in cassareep sauce — yes, cassareep. Dark velvet, sweet and so very mellow. Served with a local vanilla ice cream so light it could’ve floated away. Our low/no-sugar resolve? Completely obliterated. We didn’t even pretend to resist. Proof you say. There’s no picture of dessert because we ate all of it before realizing no picture has been taken. A good excuse to go back if we ever needed one. As if the food wasn’t enough, the evening ended with live music from our chef himself, the incredibly talented Mr. Eon John. He is a multi-hyphenate for sure. Oh, and the rum punch? Not to be left out of the culinary carnival it was made with fresh pineapple, passion fruit and married man pork (Guyanese basil, for the uninitiated). It was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. From start to finish, it was an evening of deliciousness, laughter, and music. A huge thank-you to our wonderfully warm and witty hosts, Eon and Jessica; we’re already plotting our return.

Cool concept, but room for improvement - I vacationed in Guyana for the first time. I booked this because it would allow me to have a home-cooked meal. The meal consisted of a grilled fish fillet, vegetable, side, and salad. Additionally, I expected there to be singing throughout the 2 - 2.5 hour activity. The host sung four songs. Given that there is a two-ticket minimum, I invited a local friend with me who is from the area. I was asked by the hostess' wife "Is this your husband/boyfriend." I responded he's a friend. I was then asked, "Who is he to you? How did you meet?" I responded, "He's a friend." It was clear I did not want to answer further; yet, the host/hostess asked six more times throughout the dinner. When my friend gave an additional response, the host asked, "Is that the truth?" I had my reasons for why I did not want to answer a personal question about my private life for the host/hostess as well as the other guests at the event. My friend did answer the question vaguely, but truthfully. However, it was none of their business and the uneccesary prying made the experience aggravating.
