The history of Geroplatanos village begins in 1795 when seven families relocated from the Liavska area, 6 kilometers north, and established their homes.
Until 1928, the area was known as “Tubs,” referring to the hot water emerging from the plane tree’s roots. In 1928, it was renamed Geroplatanos. On the village’s west side, the chapel of Panagia hosts the annual Feast of the Virgin Mary on August 14th and 15th, celebrated with traditional dishes and dancing.
