An experience to do - An experience to do absolutely! The winery is easily reached by train from Strasbourg and in 40 minutes you arrive in this enchanted village called Gertweller. The guy who accompanied us during the tasting was really nice and exhaustive. We tasted 6 wines (a special mention goes to them really excellent pinot grigio) and a typical Alsatian dessert. We came back drunk, satisfied and with a good bottle of Pinot Grigio, what else?

Off the beaten track excellence - Off the beaten track excellence - we booked this tasting as the only option I could find for a Sunday in the region. We wanted a private picked up tour from Strasbourg but there were none available on a Sunday. We later learnt that practically all small towns close on a Sunday! So we were excited to find this one. We trained from Strasbourg to Barr (40min train ride) thinking we would walk around Barr explore. But nothing is open in Barr on Sunday. We walked from Bar to Gertwiller for the tasting (20min) and although we were early we could purchase a glass of wine and sit on the terrace. The tasting experience was fantastic and interactive. Started by walking out to the vineyard and then into the cellars. Their interactive film was really informative. The first one was quite simple about basic wine making practised (a little too basic for anyone that knows wine) but still fun because of the great host. The second film in the barrel store was great as we learnt of the estates history. Wines were great and we purchased a few bottles that we could enjoy on holiday. We had to leave quickly to make our train back, but the whole experience was great. The closest train station at Gertwiller was only a 8min walk. Overall- very happy with the experience- but people need to know that nothing is open on a Sunday in these areas.

Very good experience - A very pleasant experience. We were very warmly received. The wines were good and varied, there was something for everyone. The kougelhopf was excellent and the choice within their small grocery store is of very good quality, we highly recommend!

Listed in Strasbourg but very far from town center - It would have been very helpful to make it clear—and would be very easy to put in the description--that it is 17km from town center. Our group of 6 did not have time (or alternatively wish to pay 51EU each way) to get there. We cancelled the tour and basically lit the money it cost on fire.

Great wine tasting, Unfriendly service on sale!! - There were 10 of us at the wine tasting. This is highly recommended. After that we bought wine bottles and wanted to have a glass on the beautifully landscaped terrace. When asked about the second bottle of wine we were told that winery close in 5 minutes. We asked for two bottles to take away and received them including paper cups. Unfortunately, we had to pay the in-house price of a whopping 25€ per bottle instead of 13€. So in the end we paid 24€ for paper cups and were very unkindly sent off !

I do not recommend - I don't advise 3 quarters of the visit are videos slideshow We taste (4 drops) of wine during these videos and we have very little explanation about the wine we taste. If you want to buy a bottle at the end to enjoy on site it will cost you 2* more than to take it away ... In short, we feel that we have lost the authentic spirit that we should feel when visiting a wine cellar. Too bad. Pros: oral explanations are nice, but much too short
